Re: DS9 S5: The Darkness and the Light
How is it possible, given the fact that people can be totally remade, that this guy is going around with severe scars?

Re: DS9 S5: In Purgatory's Shadow
Remember, Bashir, fake or real, did not deliver the O'Brien baby - the Bajoran midwife did. In fact, Bashir acted bored and excused himself.
I think it makes sense that Bashir was a changeling from that episode on.

Re: DS9 S5: In Purgatory's Shadow
I think the baby changeling was planted by changeling-Bashir. It was a test of Odo - the link is obsessed with Odo - by seeing how well he treated the baby they decided to take him back as a changeling. So the baby never died, it just became part of Odo.
When you consider how amazing it is for Odo to regain his former self, doesn't it make more sense if it is deliberate instead of random?

Re: DS9 S4: Body Parts
Over the years, I have come to appreciate the Ferengi episodes. Anyway, this one is lovely, with the end coming straight out of "It's a Wonderful Life."

Re: DS9 S7: Seventh Season Recap
Wow, is there ever some Ezri hate above! I suspect from the misspellings that it is actually the same person, not content with venting once, coming back with different names. She was not my favorite character but I thought she was interesting - I liked how she seemed to move on, her friendship with Sisko waning a bit - and her speech to Worf about the Klingon empire was fantastic. I could have done without Prodigal Daughter or Field of Fire.
I liked Chrysalis, but that's because I love music, and the do re mi scene was simply incredible.
It is true that Dukat and Sisko ended up being less dimensional in their characters. This is because they made choices to be that way. In the end, if you decide to be evil, you are evil. In the end you have to know how to defeat evil.
I loved Odo-Kira.
As for Covenant, I find it all too plausible. I see many people following false prophets, people who are obviously lying to them - such as the poor suckers who signed up for Trump University.
As for the religious aspects, at least in DS9 those being worshipped as deities are real. The Prophets exist. The shapeshifters exist. And so in a sense I think DS9 side-stepped the religious issue, because many question whether or not gods adored by others actually exist. You may question whether they are worthy of devotion or not, but you don't need the existential faith.

Re: BSG S4: Daybreak, Part 2
I agree Moore seemed really nervous in front of the camera. He's a talented writer and director; it's almost a relief that he can't act.

Watching Laura Roslin totter across the screen really tears my heart.

Re: BSG S4: A Disquiet Follows My Soul
I, for one, was glad that Nicky turned out not to be Tyrol's. Although Cally had a few good points, she often seemed whiny and weak. I don't know how Tyrol can have any regard for her memory given that she (a) murdered Boomer in cold blood and (b) let him think that Nicky was his son.

Re: BSG S3: Hero
I think Adama was suffering from so much guilt from his having shot down Bulldog - and then having abandoned him - that he blames himself for starting the was. He does not defend himself again when Bulldog attacks, again for the same reason.

Re: BSG S3: Collaborators
For me, the one false note in the episode is when Starbuck lets out the information about the dog bowl. Didn't sound right.

Any coincidence that Gaius Baltar and George Bush have the same initials?

Re: ENT S1: Broken Bow
I agree that Farpoint is easier to remember. But that is only because it was so awful.

Re: ENT S4: These Are the Voyages...
I'm still upset by the death of the baby, and now they kill Trip, too?
I guess the writers thought that TNG was the most popular and wanted to tie into it. But Troi and Riker don't look the way they used to. At least they only used Data's voice.
I don't get it. I wanted a farewell episode to ent and instead got a lukewarm ep of TNG.

Of course, it was mad not to put a female security guard in charge of guarding those three green ladies.

Re: ENT S4: Bound
Oh, this episode was fun! Plot wise a rip off of an episode of firefly, but the Orions are just a great species in terms of make-up. And the dance scene was fabulous.
Who wants deep and dramatic in every ep? This was sheer green entertainment!

Re: ENT S4: Observer Effect
great ep... small quibble. if the virus is Si based, would it be dangerous? it would need more Si to reproduce and we humans aren't a good source.

Loved the ogres on Orion...felt as if I were watching Shrek.

I loved how Trip fixed one of the appliances in the Vulcan kitchen... human men can be useful!

Re: ENT S4: Storm Front, Part I
I agree that the alternate realities feel meaningless ... but I don't understand why. It's not as if the non time travel Enterprise episode are any more real than the time travel episodes. None of them ever really happened.

Re: ENT S3: Zero Hour
Enjoyable. Good special effects. Perhaps not plausible, but that went out a while ago.
Oh, and why Nazis? Because Americans can feel good about their roles in WWII. Hard to feel that way about Iraq, so we keep telling stories about WWII.

Re: ENT S3: Doctor's Orders
I thought it was a lot of fun! It was nice that there were no aliene, just space expanding more quickly.
Are you suggesting that I read the manual?
Priceless.

Re: ENT S3: Chosen Realm
Yes, ships get taken over too easily, but being in trouble every week is also hard to accept.
The look on Archer's face as the files were deleted has reminded me to do a personal back up.

Re: ENT S3: Similitude
I thought it was an interesting episode. Although some people are saying the writers were courageous - and they were more courageous than usual - I think they actually punted on the ethical dilemma. By giving Sim such a short lifespan, they made Archer's decision much easier. It is easy to deprive someone of 5 or 6 days of life - a harder decision when it's 50 to 60 years. And I know we could look at it in terms of percentages, but most people don't function that way.
Sometimes you do have to ask people to die to save the majority. We've seen this in Star Trek II, when Spock sacrificed himself, and in a TNG episode where Deanna realizes in a command simulation that sometimes you have to order people into a situation in which they will die. In this case Sim wasn't given any choice.
I agree that Archer is sometimes a little too much like GW Bush, which may be one of the reasons that this show did not do so well, but I liked this episode. I thought the acting was fine. Young Trip/Sim was very, very good, excellent for a child actor; the scenes between Trip/Sim and T'Pol were touching. Sim's telling Phlox he was a good father was touching, too.
As for the holes in the science, well, there are so many holes in the science - or holes in what we understand.
