    Re: SNW S1: Memento Mori

"The Universe is indifferent to whether you live or die. You can either face that with sarcasm, or with determination."

No room for sarcastic determination? I mean, you can still get the mission done AND be a smartass about it. Ask anyone who ever served in the military ...

Re: SNW S1: Ghosts of Illyria

    Little torn by this episode.

I really enjoyed the focus on Number One. The fact that she is an Illyrian, while put to bed for the moment, is bound to come back to haunt her, and, I suspect, Pike. That's why I can forgive the introduce-damning-background-on-a-species-then-reveal-leading-character-is-a-member-of-said-species-all-in-one-episode resolution.

    I mean, it's not like she's a Cylon. ;-)

Dr. M'Benga's dilemma is heartbreaking. If someone is in the buffer, though, how can the medical transporter be used for its intended purpose???? I will let it go to a technobabble explanation.

No one has died on this crew by my reckoning in three episodes - not even Ensign Lance. Discovery had slaughtered whole fleets and worlds by episode three.

Re: SNW S1: Children of the Comet

RE: Prime Directive and the first episode. Arguably the Prime Directive was null and void when the non-warp race detected the warp signatures and the battle debris and used it to create the weapon. The contamination already had happened; Starfleet didn't know it yet.

Re: SNW S1: Children of the Comet

I have watched this episode twice now. I have NEVER watched an episode of Picard or Discovery twice. I think I might watch it again.

Also, the fact that Spock knows Pike knows his fate all this time makes his actions for his former captain all the more poignant.

    Re: PIC S2: Farewell

I just want to say, I really would like more time on the Stargazer. For some reason it just intrigues me. Maybe that itch will be scratched by SNW.

The Picard-Q scenes are iconic. Loved the Wesley cameo. I really hope there is a lot less of Brent Spiner in the final season. I am kind of done with him being shoehorned into stories just so he can keep his SAG card.

This is not TNG. I have come to terms with that. I like the dealing with Picard as a man. First dealing with Data's loss, then the loss of his mother. My bet is that he dies in Season 3.

Myabe we've just all lionized Stewart and Picard so long, we forgot that TNG wasn't as iconic as we thought it was?

Re: PIC S2: Hide and Seek

Agnes is the new Borg Queen. Called it.

Pardon me, I'm resting on my laurels with a steaming mug of I Was Right to keep me warm.

Next prediction - Agnes of Borg was taking control of the Starfleet ships in the first episode because the Borg tech in those ships was going to become dangerous in the future. She was trying to help. Picard is supposed to make a better choice the next time round.

    Re: PIC S2: Mercy

Jurati is the new Borg Queen. Picard was supposed to not self destruct Stargazer and accept the Borg's application for Federation membership. By the end of the season he will be taken back to that moment and make the different choice. It's about inclusion instead of xenophobia, which is why the altered future is all about him being a general that kills non-human species.

    Re: PIC S2: Assimilation

This episode was definitely a step down but did the job. Elnor's death was dealth with far too quickly, and the whole clinic scene ... I mean, I get it, there are people who think enforcing immigration is bad. Making ICE agents appear *almost* as heavy-handed as the jackbooted thugs of the Confederation was a little over the top.

"* If this crew can time-travel back to 2024, then I'm allowed to time-travel back to the early 1990s."

I still use "psych" in daily conversations, and I'm not afraid to say it.

I really liked the Borg Queen scenes but I doubt we've seen the last of the good doctor's interaction with her. Maybe the queen left somthing in her to aid in a later assimilation?

    Re: DSC S4: Species Ten-C

Sean Doyle now holds the distinction of playing a sarcastic, toxic asshole in TWO iconic genre franchises. Well done, sir. I salute you with an unironic golf clap. (clap clap)

@Jammer - I hope one day you review The Expanse.

    Re: PIC S2: Penance

I had to force myself to watch Discovery the last three episodes. I looked forward to the first two episodes of Picard with anticipation. I don't know what that says, but it's something. This is not a criticism to the former's cast in any way. I think this season of Picard is some of the best Trek I've seen in a long while and a welcome shift away from the sometimes uneven first season.

Re: PIC S2: The Star Gazer

I wanted to spend a lot more time on the Stargazer. Honestly a one-off limited series with Rios in command on a long mission would be welcomed. I love that character and the actor. He brings some of the swagger of Kirk with the edge of Sisko.
