Jammer et al have totally missed the point.
The Holodeck are not the issue. This is a story
Of primative people’s reaction to advanced technology. Their version was a bit weak and too stereo typically Irish, but it is a recurring issue. Janeway’s mention of “Connecticut
Yankee...” at the end affirms the idea.
I give it 2 1/2 stars for attempting to deal with
A difficult topic.

Remember that birth control had just been legalized in 1961. The first feminism was to allow women to be real sexual objects. Before they were only house wives. It was not until the mid seventies that feminism began to discard the sexual objrct as a sign of feminine freedom. We see this everywhere in the '60's. Robert Heinlin had a man's brain in a woman's body.

So metamorphasis is consistabt with the culture of its age, but still manages to provoke very interesting questions.

Seems like the writers went to sleep during the second half. It wouldn't have been so bad if it had not set up such great expectations at first. The whole series suffers from not following through with the prophets, the Bejorans, and Sisko's role, not just as a pawn of the worm hole aliens, but as a architect of a new Bejore.

Wonder where Jammer finds the spellings for all these Trekie names ??

I guess the ones who really like boxing would appreciate this episode, but I find boxing just dumb and ugly, and hitting a beautiful woman in the face is about the most disgusting thing I can think of. I guess if I re-watched the episode I might find some meaning in the fighting, but that's not going to happen.

I would add at least a 1/2 star to this episode. It is not without its faults, but it also has quite a lot of interest.

I find it annoying that the Sharon killed on BSG was never given credit for blowing up the Cylon mother ship, even if she did shoot Adama. Also, Almos's scene with the dead Sharon was extremely well acted.

I thought that Adama's forgiveness of Tigh was very appropriate, especially sine Adama really caused most of the problems anyway.

To me this episode is very pivotal in the entire arc of the series.

Re: DS9 S4: The Muse

Well the premise of sucking whatever out of Jake's brain was pretty weak, but given than, what really annoyed me is that the muse escaped when there, right on the station was Lwaxana Troi who should have easily been able to track her and maybe even capture her. OMG, that part almost writes itself. I wish that Mrs. Roddenberry could have been used as a more powerful character than the bumbling Lwaxana Troi and the voice of the computer.

I think that Dukat is not capable of refraining from hitting on any beautiful woman, but I still regret never seeing a scene where Dukat is running through DS9, turns a corner, and there is Major Kira. He runs right over her, but her hand or foot reaches out just enough to trip him, and then Kira expresses the intensity of her dislike for Dukat. A later comment from Dr. Bashier might be, "...but was it necessary for you to break both his arms like that?"

I'm a bit more inclined to like the Ferengi since I see their whole economic dogma as a set up, like ten pins, to be knocked down. And here we get what appears to be a lot of courage from Rom which is rewarded, and that is good to see. I like Rom's idiot/savant persona, fulfilling what Nog said, when he upbraided Sisko about his father.

Quark is again the fall guy, but that's what he's there for. I did kept hoping that Brunt's goons would run afowl of Worf, but Odo at least had the last word with them.

So, I have to give this episode at least another 1/2 or maybe even another full point.

Re: DS9 S4: Indiscretion

I agree with the other comments. The relationship between Dukat and Kira should never have a comic moment. The tensions should remain throughout the series. I wanted to hear her tell Dukat that the girl's pleading was only making it much easier for Kira to blow Dukat away if he harmed her.

There is a scene I never saw in 7 years of DS9 that would have been very satisfying. Dukat, running through DS9 trying to escape from something, then turning a corner, and being face to face with Kira. He would knock her down as he ran over her, but her hand or foot would stick out and trip him, and then she would pounce, and we can imagine the rest.

Yet again, I find that there are two views of Klingons, one displayed by Worf, and another, totally different one, displayed by all the other Klingons. I wish the other Klingons were less like drunk bozos and had more of Warf's honor. Instead, the other Klingons are just ruthless killers who severely lack the subtlety of the Kardasians or the Romulans.

After they lost so many ships fighting the Defiant and then Deep Space Nine, you would have thought that they would have learned a lesson. That sort of nihilistic head banging should have put them on Darwin's list long ago.

I think they are deliberately making Kai Winn into a stereotype, just like Quark. This gives the audience the benefit of always knowing exactly how both will react to a given situation. Yes they are both one dimensional, but it's how the other characters react to them that matters.

I thought the answer was 42. I find that the Ferengi represent a stereotype of people not uncommon in our own world, with their attitudes about greed and women. We all know, or know of, people who almost fit that stereotype. We also know that those types are also extremely rigid, so we should not expect, or for that matter, even want Quark to change. Quark sometimes mellows especially when he's forced to see the error of his ways, but by the next episode, he's same old Quark, because if he weren't, we'd miss him.
