Re: TOS S2: Catspaw
Unbelievably bad. No real explanation as to why the aliens are doing what they’re doing. No explanation for why Kirk and Spock keep getting chained to a wall and then released. And all it took to defeat. The aliens was for Kirk to break their magic wand. Finally, the aliens become pipe cleaner puppets, and die, for no reason. The episode is an embarrassment.

Well played.

Re: LD S4: Old Friends, New Planets
Are we expecting Season 5 to be the final season of Lower Decks? Some interviews with the writers/directors seem to imply they haven't heard any renewal passed Season 5.
50 episodes as a whole would be a good run for this show, and I think the humor would run dry if it goes on longer. I hope we see Mariner and the others in live-action again though, maybe in the Star Trek Academy series given her roots.

Re: LD S4: Caves
How many "cave" episodes are there throughout the entire 50+ year of Star Trek?

Re: SNW S2: Hegemony
Introducing all these TOS recasts will be pointless when either Strange new worlds gets canceled or the actors age too quickly and they can't do their TOS reboot you know they're inching toward.
Sam Weasly will be 50 eventually playing a 30 year old Kirk!

Re: SNW S2: Subspace Rhapsody
Glad Jammer liked the episode.
The rest of you who disliked it (I'm seeing similar comments here and on reddit about some people "fast forwarding" the songs)...which is bizarre to me because why even watch it in the first place?
Some of you need to lighten up. You can tell how much the cast and crew loved making this episode. I know most people here are middle age adults on their way to becoming senior citizens, but having nice fun and light hearted episodes for a new generation of fans is fantastic.

Re: SNW S2: Subspace Rhapsody
Nurse Chapel is way too hot on this show. I hate to say it but she won't age well

Re: PIC S3: The Last Generation
Some people really need to relax. Star Trek isn't Shakespeare. It's like people go into each episode of this show searching for things they find "wrong" with it so they can post some cleverly disguised rant as an "intellectual critique" when we all know what they're really doing.
I assume everyone posting here is in the 30-50 year old range, right? Mostly adults who watched the original series as kids/teens. The fact that a bunch of 30-40+ year olds don't realize what they're doing is absurd.

Re: PIC S3: The Last Generation
Most of Season 2 had no impact on this season. It had an alternate "good Borg" formed but they didn't appear this season so it doesn't matter. Jurati from the first season became a "good" Borg queen, but she never appeared again.

Re: PIC S3: The Last Generation
Jammers reviews this season have been spot on. He points out the good and bad points of each episode (as well as what could have been better or handled differently), and goes into it genuinely enjoying it.
Meanwhile you look at the comment section, and about half the people here are saying things like, "insulting," "appalling," "worst of all Trek," "memberberries," "mystery box," "contrived," "forced" and "nostalgia-bait."
I think it's time Jammer shuts down the comment section. It had a good run.

Re: PIC S3: The Last Generation
It's probably for the best Janeway didn't appear. Her scene would have been as short as Tuvok's, and would have taken attention away from Shaw and 7 of 9.
If we do get Star Trek Legacy I suspect Janeway will be a recurring character in that,

Re: PIC S3: The Last Generation
The amount of people ready to unleash their seething hatred for this episode and all modern Trek almost borderlines on parody at this point.
It was a good sendoff to the TNG crew and a proper finale fo the series in general. You can see how far all these characters have come, including 7 of 9, from their first appearances.

Re: PIC S3: Surrender
Everyone here is so miserable. It's like everyone here is trying to one-up each other in misery.
On reddit's Star Trek board I've been reading the reviews for each episode (there's 300-400+ replies in each review thread), and they're always more positive than here.

Re: PIC S3: Surrender
Not sure why Jammer disliked the hostage scene so much. Yes we knew nobody important would die (sorry bald lady), but it was still filled with tension and well acted. It also leads into Jack with his bomb/shield and enough time to cover Data/Lore.
This was a great ep overall for all the other aspects with the Next Gen crew and I think Vadic was pretty good as a villain. There's nothing wrong with, "over the top" or "campy" villains. Otherwise people would complain the villains are too bland or one-dimensional, as we've seen with some Star Trek movie villains like the reboot movies. At least Vadic will be memorable.
Now of course this season will fall flat if Jacks' powers and the mystery behind them turn out lame or underwhelming. They built up to this moment so much that if ep 9 has a bad reveal, it'll put a damper on the whole season. Shame because everything is good for now.

Re: PROD S1: Kobayashi
Watching this ep now in late 2022, it's surreal knowing all the hologram Starfleet officers are now dead in real life besides Beverly Crusher.
Spock, Scottie, Uhura, and Odo's actors have all passed away. Very surreal watching this now with the only surviving cast member being Gates McFadden.

Re: ORV S3: Future Unknown
I think 2.5 stars is a little low for the commentary and quality we see here.
I had some good belly laughs at a lot of the humor in this episode
And I respectfully disagree with the pacing on this one - I did not feel it drag like I did in some of the early episodes in the season that did indeed have pacing issues.

Re: ORV S3: Domino
I'm also still waiting for the payoff on that sandwich reappearing...

Re: ORV S3: Domino
Anyone else catch the fact that a) Charley Burke made that comment about thinking 4 dimensionally, b) the last thing we see her doing is thinking about her girlfriend, and c) remember that the way Gordon got to where he ended up was being near the Quantum Core and thinking about who/where he wanted to go
I don't think we have seen the last of Charley and I sense a big twist coming considering we still have one episode to go.
Maybe Charley Burke is Avis??

Re: TNG S4: Clues
It seems very un-Picard like to just give up without a fight and allow some aliens to wipe their memories and computer records. He's made it clear many times that they are all willing to die in the line of duty if necessary, even if he has to blow up the ship himself. Apparently these Paxans are more powerful than the Borg and he decides they'd better just run away though even though we never see what kind of weapons they have other than their sleep cloud which doesn't even affect Data.
Why did Guinan seem so clueless about a time period that she actually lived through?

Re: TNG S4: Devil's Due
I don't think anyone else has mentioned the strange shuttle with the very cramped seating and the solid wall with no door directly behind them cutting off access to the rest of the shuttle.

Re: TNG S4: The Wounded
Having the Cardassians actually be guilty of what Maxwell was accusing them of really hurt the episode in my opinion. They shouldn't have tried to justify what he did, there was no justification for disobeying orders or mass murder. One of the things I never liked about the show was how enemies like the Cardassians and the Romulans were always treated as one-dimensional over the top evil races.
It was ridiculous that Maxwell wasn't thrown into the brig immediately the first time they caught him. Letting him return to his ship and maintain his command for the journey back to Federation space? Absurd. Imagine the police catching a murderer and then telling him he was free to drive himself the police station as long as he promised to be good.

Re: TNG S4: The Loss
I love TNG but the show would have been SO much better without Troi.

Re: TNG S4: Final Mission
Also why do shuttles have to crash land on planets and moons all the time? They aren't airplanes, just because an engine goes out or something it doesn't mean you have to land somewhere.
Scott
Re: TNG S4: Final Mission
All they had to do was tow the barge away from the planet and let it go on it's way, then they could have gone on to search for the shuttle immediately. They could have come back or sent a more appropriate ship to deal with the waste barge later. What were they doing taking that broken down piece of crap shuttle to begin with? The Enterprise has lots of shuttles they could have taken.
