Re: Discuss the latest on 'Star Trek: Discovery'

I'm not thrilled with the ship design, but having a new Trek will overrun any thoughts along those lines. We've watched the complete series other than Enterprise with my 10 year old son over the past year, so it will be fun to watch the series new with him.

Interesting is that Canada appears to be the only country that will be broadcasting the entire first season before hopping onto streaming. The first episode will be on CTV, a main network up here, and then following episodes on cable only Space. It will be nice to record and crop commercials!

Re: DS9 S6: You Are Cordially Invited

I know somebody above didn't like it, but I absolutely loved the end where Bashir and O'Brien desperately wanted to go at Worf. The maniacal look on Bashir's face was priceless to me!

All in all, I really dislike Worf & Dax as a couple, but worse relationships have stayed together I guess.

    Re: VOY S7: Drive

I couldn't stand Neelix at the beginning of the series with the whole jealousy thing, but I actually enjoy the character now. Sure, there are some times when I have to roll my eyes at him or get annoyed, but don't we get that way about everybody sometimes?! I really enjoyed the hyped up play-by-play, and got a good laugh out of the Tuvok insertion.

Enjoyable episode to me. Glad something finally happened between real B'Elanna and Tom.

Re: VOY S6: The Haunting of Deck Twelve

I noticed the star rating on this episode when reading previous reviews, and was not looking forward to it in the least. But when all was said and done, I really enjoyed the episode. Definite 3 star episode for me, although my wife thought it was a 2.5. I was happy with the ending, and actually enjoyed Neelix's telling of the story, as of course he wouldn't have all the details, but could offer filler. Enjoyable, and not anything what I had feared.

    Re: VOY S6: Fury

I had felt that Voyager had made a change for the better recently. Characters introduced and return (Borg kids); continuity in an episode (infection of Borg). And then here, Kes walks into the engine room and sees Seven. The actress who replaced her. Kes is going to kill someone. Ha, she's taking out Seven! NOT! Ugh. Just that start could have made this episode in my eyes, but no, we got Fury. *sigh*

    Re: VOY S5: Relativity

Loved this episode, but especially as it got more and more crazy! I had forgotten about Braxton from season 3,so that was an interesting twist. I am especially glad that we have gotten past those pathetic episodes a few back.

    Re: Star Trek (2009)

"I found it hard to believe that Nero just happened to have a ship as monstrous as the Narada, and that it could be so easily repaired (seemingly) after being rammed by the Kelvin."

Being 25 years passed from that time until the Narada saw Spock's ship come through, that doesn't surprise me. It was a mining ship, which would mean to me that it had tons of repair functionality.

"Also, since when did the Romulans have enhanced strength like the Vulcans?"

I'm quite certain that somewhere along the timeline in TNG Romulans were said to have been Vulcans that didn't keep their emotions inside. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: BSG S4: Daybreak, Part 2 (April Fools Version)

Absolutely loved the episode from beginning to end. As surprised as Niall was that people didn't hate it, I was shocked to watch the after show special in Canada show them hating it. Doesn't change my mind in any way, This is a top mark episode to me. Even the back-in-time jumps made total sense in the end, and made for a lovely 2:15 standalone show.

I knew Galactica had to jump close to the colony, but geez, that was insane!!! Loved slamming Galactica into the colony and blowing front hatches. Not an invasion technique I expected!!!

I always felt Boomer was in an internal battle. Nice to see her do one right thing. Figured she had to die after all that had happened.

Shocked me to see that Caprica 6 had a Gaius in her head!!! Loved it! And the fact that they were helping Hera get away and not stealing her away as I always assumed, nice!

On top of Galen's reaction, I loved that Ellen and Ty were as shocked that Tory had done that to Callie, and loved Tory getting what she deserved. Hated what had to happen to the "bad Cylons" in CIC, but I guess that was the only way to end it.

Watching the jump and then Galactica's back breaking and falling apart... as realistic as I'd think. Showing Galactica flying over the moon and then panning up to Earth gave me chills!!!

To answer an earlier question, I thought there was a mention of a Raptor jumping to give the fleet coordinates to Galactica. That's what had to have happened.

Loved the old school BSG music from the seventies when the fleet was piloted to the sun.

Roslin dying... had to happen, but crap...

Starbuck = Gandalf. I'm fine with keeping it at that.

Finally, I loved that there was no more mention of Daniel! I thought that the mention of his name was overblown by everybody trying to analyze his importance, and glad that it stayed that way!

Re: BSG S4: Someone to Watch Over Me

15 minutes into this episode, I was shaking my head, wondering why they have made two sorry episodes in a row. I was ready to give this episode 1/2 star. Things started to change in the next 15 minutes, and then the final half, I was on the edge of my seat. Now I can look back and enjoy the entire episode - I was just worried that I was going to be left disappointed like the previous episode.

I was glad there was the mention by Kara at the start of the episode that their ranks are thinned from the mutiny. Something that should have been mentioned earlier.

I was frustrated in the previous episode when Tyrol decided to leave Galactica without hesitation. I felt like they made an unexplained change in his character. But this episode, you were able to read every single feeling that he had. Definite improvement in my eyes.

Sorry for not backtracking to find out an answer. Has anything been said about why the four of the final five Cylons were able to hear "All Along the Watchtower" within Galactica? How it was inside the ship...??? Was it constructed with it, was it infiltrated, is it a cylon???

Finally... was this a plan that Cavil had come up with months ago when Ellen showed up? To push her buttons in order to get Boomer back onto Galactica? Talk about perserverance through a long plan.

    Re: BSG S4: The Oath

Ok, lets end this once and for all (unless there's doubt on me). Based on my recording times...

56:47 - Lee, Starbuck, Tyrol, Adama, Ty arrive, kiss, etc
57:44 - Tyrol receives warning on approaching marines
57:52 - Adama makes decision to stay, Ty refuses to leave
58:11 - Lee, Starbuck, Tryol close the screening door
58:15 - launch sequence initiated, blast doors to hallway sealed
58:21 - marines arrive, Ty works on sealing door
58:25 - Baltar requests the President to get on board
58:30 - marines start the blowtorch
58:36 - hatch door to raptor closes
    58:42 - hatch door seals
    58:52 - raptor away
59:42 - (after Gaeta cut) Adama claims "he couldn't have lived with it" in response to Ty saying he could have left
    59:59 - Adama fires shots

Anyway, Adama stayed to give the ship time to get away and because he couldn't have lived with himself - pride. Both correct.

Re: BSG S4: A Disquiet Follows My Soul

I also thought Gaeta was over the top on his Kara attack, but that was before I actually watched the webisodes after Disquiet. After watching that, I understood more where he was coming from. I also think his attack on Kara was more of an over-the-top thing to get her out of the room for his conversation with the other crew members. I am surprised that all of the people in there were for the mutiny, and not one spoke up.

With Tyrol, I actually loved the fumbling words. It's been 7 months since we saw revelations and his admittance, but it's only been weeks in the BSG world.

Kara confuses the world out of me. I have no idea what direction they're going with her...
