Re: TOS S3: The Lights of Zetar

i get the reviews saying its not a good episode...but, i liked it...prob put it in my top 10...the episode did not drag on, and i liked the last 10 min (loved the fact we didnt acually see the zetars).......also i think the show brings in guests for ratings...stories around crew members wouldnt get you three years..

    Re: DS9 S4: Hard Time

    They did WHAT to O'Brien?

I was waiting for the Federation's retaliation the whole episode.

Like as soon as they take the computer thingy off of his head, "We tortured you, surprise!" Kira should have tossed O'Brien a phaser.

Then they should have bombarded the entire planet.

    Re: DS9 S4: Shattered Mirror

Even better story...turns out the rebels have had the real O'Brien in custody for some time...they replaced him as a setup to get the Defiant. Then could reveal, the O'Brien who spent 20 years in a virtual prison in Hard Time, was Smiley.

Since the episode was a giant reset button anyway, no retro impact to the character.

    Re: DS9 S4: Shattered Mirror

Don't know why Sisko doesn't call security and lock Jennifer up the minute he sees her. Would have been my first, second and third reactions. Also, don't see how he doesn't end up on charges of violating the Prime Directive.

Further, the notion that these barely literate, semi civilized rebels could somehow put together an exact duplicate of the USS Defiant in something under a millennium stretches credibility beyond reason.

A MUCH better story would have had rebels sneak aboard DS9, steal the Defiant (they would have had Smiley's DNA to get past the security, aka Tom RIker), take it to the other universe and require Sisko to go get it back. Higher stakes for the regular characters and a much more plausible story.

Re: BSG S3: A Day in the Life

(disclaimer: I love the overall series so far)

One problem I have with this kind of episodes is that introduce stuff and characters that weren't relevant before, and won't be relevant after. This is why I consider them "filler", as mentioned by another commenter: because they will be forgotten as soon as the episode ends.

Adama's wife was a throwaway line in the miniseries. Her character isn't interesting in this episode, and she doesn't explain the strains of the father-son relationship of the Adamas. We already know about Zak, and about William's expectations for his sons. That is enough explanation, no need to introduce extraneous characters.

Even worse was the past girlfriend of Lee (season 2?), whose memory almost forced him to commit suicide. Absurd! The character wasn't mentioned before, when we were shown a cheerful Lee, and was summarily forgotten after the episode ended. That's lazy writing.

Same with Lee's hooker girlfriend from another episode, etc. I hate it when they introduce characters you just know won't appear ever again.

    Re: VOY S5: Juggernaut

Maybe the Malon found another wormhole and are using it to dump their waste? Of course it's weird that there is another ship near that one while the other one was "private", but maybe it's a corporation running that wormhole and not just a single captain. It probably should have been explained, and it would have been easy to do so (just have B'Elanna drop a using wormholes when she wants to insult them).

    Re: Site Version 6.0 (2012)

For what it's worth, while your reviews are usually very well written and sometimes thought provoking, at this point, don't feel any need to do any more reviews of a twenty year old tv show (aka Star Trek: TNG). If readers haven't formed their own opinions of seasons 6 and 7 by now, it's too late.
