Re: VOY S4: Hope and Fear

@sean, I like this episode also. I think everybody got their parts right. If voyager had traveled too far towards the alpha quadrant, we would have to leave behind the borg, would have messed with the timing of Course Oblivion, and never would have encountered Equinox.

    Re: TOS S2: Catspaw

@Scott, +1 for pipe cleaner puppets. They were always hermit crabs pulled out of their shell to me.

When I was 7 watching this episode it was fun. As an adult, I find it unwatchable and cringey.

    Re: VOY S1: Prime Factors

During the recent sentencing of Sam Bankman-Fried, judge Lewis Kaplan noted: The Defendant ran a cost-benefit analysis of getting caught versus getting away with fraud.

Tuvok intoned at the end of the show that his logic and deductions were impeccably correct, but HE was wrong.

Re: PIC S3: The Last Generation

For the ending, they could have done the American Graffiti/Animal House thing with an action shot of each of the main characters and a little blurb underneath about what they became.

7 of 9: goes on to have the most popular onlyaliens account of people over 50

Riker and Troi: get remarried and have a second honeymoon on Raisa. Worf is their “security detail.”

Jack Crusher: is killed by his own bridge crew for having too many close-up wily grin shots. Wesley is promoted to Son #1 again.

Re: PIC S3: The Last Generation

When I was in college in the early 80s, our local PBS station purchased all 3 TOS seasons in full original film. We were enticed to call in and pledge our hard earned dollars. I made several of those calls through those years, mostly to shut up the membership begathon (if we get just 5 more members!) so we could get back to commercial free Star Trek.

I would leave college parties early on Saturday night to get home by 11:30pm to watch 3 full TOS episodes.

Nothing about this PIC series evokes any of that.

    Re: PIC S3: Vox

I don’t know much about how the TV world works. How actors relate to writers and directors or producers. Do the actors who recite these scripts get to offer their input to the director and producers? Picard adamant that he will not curse. Geordi that he will not recite that cheese line because it’s out of character. Data that he won’t betray the data/lore brand that’s been built.

I ask because I don’t know if the actors get to intervene, or just act out the schlock that is given to them in the scripts.

Does Patrick Stewart sit at the coffee table and congratulate himself for a job well done over these 30 episodes? He’s an executive producer. HE HAS SWAY. But it appears we have Admiral Paycheck and his crew.

    Re: PIC S3: Surrender

Data really needs to wear a wire to connect to Geordi’s firewall computer? Good grief.

No janeway mentions, only a handful of Frontier Day utterances.

There was a scene on the bridge where Jeri Ryan replies to Capt Doofus calling her Hansen, “I’m seven of nine”. Ok fair. This confirms to me that Seven could have assimilated Vadic on the bridge. Her nanoprobe tubules could have hit her several times as distance was within inches. I kept thinking this might happen. Would have been better.

    Re: PIC S3: Dominion

My comment on last weeks episode that we had not seen Tim Russ seems psychic at this point. I’m not sure if I like evil Tuvok though.

I noticed in the credits what seems like 9 Executive Producers and 3 co-executive producers. That explains a lot.

    Re: PIC S3: The Bounty

Let’s think about what Voyager went through in the delta quadrant. That ship, that poor poor ship. Wasn’t it completely time fractured at one point? Not to mention what Red did to it in Year of Hell(s). It’s been through multiple transwarp accidents, stuck in voids, harvested by life forms.

There have to be micro hull fractures and other structural problems which make the ship unreliable for daily use. Is starfleet still using bioneural gel paks? There are borg alcoves on that ship… and please please no, the Fairhaven holo program must be quarantined.

I think you leave it in mothballs.

    Re: PIC S3: The Bounty

Seven is, of course, a nice hat tip to voyager as was the reminiscing scene. Where did Naomi Wildman end up? She was a very smart gal and I can’t imagine she’s running a greasy spoon in NuNuNew York. Tuvok is startlingly absent, given Tim Russ’s long engagement across multiple franchises. Even Paris/Locarno. We still have 5 shows so it’s all possible.

    Re: PIC S3: Imposters

I think newguy longs for a block button. I can understand the POV

I have to assume Mulgrew is in the wings, even if for a Star Trek Zoom meeting over coffee. Or is it tea in this future?

Re: PIC S3: No Win Scenario

I had to watch it a 2nd time to ensure there was no Raffi. I don’t get all the dominion/changeling stuff because I always fall asleep somewhere in Season 2 of DS9. Never have completed all the episodes awake.

Those were definitely farpoint induced alien babies.

My biggest fear? An upcoming Hour Long episode of just Raffi and Worf.

Re: SNW S1: The Elysian Kingdom

    25 eps X 50 mins = 1250 minutes of old trek
    10 X 55 = 550 minutes of nutrek

We’re not even getting half as much, so crappy episodes are a bigger piece of the pie. I think VOY did alternate cast roles the best. Evil Janeway is my favorite.
