    Re: DS9 S2: Paradise

This episode always makes me mad because it should have fallen apart so much earlier than it did. Why didn't Sisko and O'Brien just refuse to stay in the community so they would not have to abide by the rules. Why didn't they say Cassandra's writing was a waste of time as much as their search for a way home. There were many ways they could have seen through the plot in the village much earlier, but that would have ruined the episode.

    Re: TNG S7: Bloodlines

I give this episode credit for Picard making a bald joke about himself. Other than that, I always thought it was a pretty hokey plot.

Re: Trailer: 'Star Trek Into Darkness'

I think JJ Abrams is a creative guy. But I get the feeling he was the kind of guy who used to take his GI Joes apart and reassemble them after mixing all the peices.

Everytime he plays with someone else's toys he changes them around a lot, and I think Star Trek is no exception. I thought his first ST movie was amazingly cast, but it did not have the heart of ST. They did not boldly go where no one has gone before. They did not explore the human condition.

I'll see the new trek, but probably not until DVD, unless I hear some great things from the hard core nerds.

    Re: VOY S7: Endgame

I somehow got it into my head that when the "Marqui Situation" was brought up, that Voyager would elect to stay in the Delta Quadrant to protect the crew. It would have been a great finale with some of the characters (like Harry) returning to the Alpha Quadrant, but most deciding to stay on Voyager and stay in the Delta quadrant to continue to explore for Starfleet.

That would have been a real twist, but would have angered many of the fans, since the main goal of the series, Voyager returning home, would not have happened.

    Re: TNG S5: The Game

I have always liked this episode for some reason. Maybe it is that it is pretty creepy. I can even buy Wesley not being taken in by the game, because he is a visitor, and wants to do more with his vacation than play a game. And based on how it got around (starting with Ryker, Troi, and Crusher, three of the most trustworthy crew members), I will buy that no one else looked into the nature of the game. It does have the improbable notion that Wes could find and repair Data when LaForge could not.

I do agree that Ashley Judd is super cute, which helps.

Re: TNG S5: Cause and Effect

Maybe some of you don't enjoy it as much on a second veiwing because you have already seen it 5 times after the fist viewing.

I always liked this episode and thought it was rather clever.

Re: Conan to make his awaited return to TV

Sadly I do not have cable, so I will be unable to watch Conan's new show.

I did have a lot of respect for the tonight show. I watched Carson's final few years. I get why Conan had so much respect for it. As much I used to love Letterman, I stopped watching talk shows long before Conan's run on the tonight show. But I did tune in regularly once he started to host, and I found it often hilarious.

Re: BSG S4: Someone to Watch Over Me

Everytime I think the series is losing focus, the next episode proves me wrong. I felt the writers were simply eliminating threads they could not finish when they retconed Nicky being half-cylon and killed Six's unborn child.

But then they come back with a fantastic character based story like this one. Those are always the best episodes of BSG. Kara is great as a broken person, and this episode is another great chapter in her story.

I am OK if Kara ends up being half-cylon. Maybe that is what makes her the harbinger of death. Cylons also seem drawn to each other, which explains on why she keeps going back to Anders instead of moving on.

I was tounched by the life Boomer showed Tyrol. So I felt as betrayed as the cheif when I realized what Boomer was doing with Hera. and I doubt I was alone in yelling "Don't do it Helo" at the screen. In many ways Boomer seems to be the "evil twin" of Athena.

The comparisons with DS9's final chapter are unfair. DS9 was completing a story about a war. BSG is telling a story about survival and dispair. If all the remaining episodes had such strong character stories, would not care if I ever saw another space battle.

Re: BSG S4: Blood on the Scales

I was rather disappointed in this episode. To paraphrase the Simpsons: Zarek crossed that line between everyday villainy and cartoonish super-villainy. I wish there had been a more sypmathetic side to the mutineers. I thought the mutiny was put down too easily.

But there were many great character moments in this episode. My favorite being Roslin unleashed.

Re: Obviously, you're not a golfer

Lebowski is my favorite movie of all time. I'm jealous of everyone who saw it in the theater.

I remember the first time I saw it. I decided to rent it on a whim, because the cover was eye-catching, the title intriguing, and it was by the Fargo guys. After watching it, I returned it, immediately purchased a copy, and proceded to watch it every weekend for the next three months.

I didn't find out about the cult following until much later. I'm glad there are so many TBL fans out there.
