Their only hope for survival may be the return of Luke Skywalker, whom Rey hopes to convince to return to the fight.

— In the final episode in the Skywalker story, Emperor Palpatine returns to menace the galaxy — threatening to undermine the power desired by Kylo Ren — while Rey and the Resistance hope to endure long enough to rise up and defeat the First Order.
