Re: BSG S4: The Face of the Enemy

Anyone else noticed racetrack actually said "oh fuck me" instead of frak? (webisode 07, talking to hoshi). I'm halfway through my third viewing of the series but it is the first time i watch the webisodes (not a fan of the format, by the way; but at least this one is basically a chopped normal episode).

I agree (and enjoy) with all your BSG reviews, this series is about a lot of jorneys, besides the actual fleet jorney. And Gaeta's one may be the saddest and darkest of them all

Re: ENT S4: In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II

Great episodes, it was quite a success to cross over not only to the mirror universe but to a TOS ship too. didn't like the gorn part, though (as i didn't really like "arena" from TOS that much, actually)

Only problem i see; what about mirror universe continuity? i know it's just a fun episode and it shouldn't be looked at that way, but keeping the defiant and bringing it back would mean a century worth leap on technology for the terran empire (so by the time "mirror mirror" occures kirk would find a TNG iss enterprise (and so on)...

anyway, it's kind of a shame we didn't get to see a show worth seeing until it was already cancelled...

Re: ENT S2: Regeneration

i don't think the issue here is about continuity (which i think they saved pretty well) but the concept of time travel itself in star trek. You can have loop time travel or alternate time travel but not both. For example, the new movie:
-Nero comes back in time, does his thing and creates a new time-line different than the original (alternate time-line)

Regenerations/First Contact:
-Borg travel back in time in order to call themselves so the can travel back in time in order to... (loop-hole time-line)

One thing should never be with the other in the same fictional universe, it's either one way or the other; and it shows a lack of coherence (understandable in a show that's been running for half a century, but still a mistake)

You could say (like a post above) that this IS an alternate time-line (so in this new time-line whenever picard encountered the borg -if he even did- he would be aware of them) but the writers clearly try to stablish a loop element.

another example:
┬Ětime's arrow - loop (data's head was already there).
┬ĚPast tense - alternate (sisko's face wasn't already in the picture, he came back to an slightly alternate future).
