Re: VOY S5: Timeless

Jammer really lays a big smelly rotten egg above.

The review is inconsistent, because this episode has everything Jammer hates: pointless plot, reset button, story is stupid (crew obviously would have aborted or have been told to do so from the future), Wang overacting most of the time, new characters with invalid motivations, ridiculous Janeway decisions (over dinner?) that doom the crew (again). Not even a staff meeting... Chakotay too spineless to push back (again), Torres barely involved. We know everything that will happen in this episode within the first 5 minutes. You don't even have to watch the acting, just listen to the heavy-handed score.

The "eye candy" of LeVar Burton putting himself into his own episode is ridiculous and what was the point?

For a "future Harry" episode, but it's all but Harry, really. Chakotay is obviously holding his hand to get him there. It's not even enough... Harry needs the Doctor to hold his hand too. And after 15 years he still acts like a pompous spoiled brat who comes undone at the smallest challenge. No character development, except for a baby powder wig. And he dooms 15 years of life in two quadrants of the Galaxy (the "real" timeline) by getting that reset button pressed. What are we to learn from this episode? Once a simple-minded self-centred loser, always a simple-minded self-centered loser? And what does past Harry gain from all of this: he remains an incompetent. And his future self doesn't even acknowledge Chakotay or the Doctor... he's narcissistic to boot.

1 star: for sets and for Seven's hysterical drunk line... "we are one."
