Re: PIC S1: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2

I'm currently binging for the first time the Battlestar Galactica remake, and kicking myself after each episode for not having done it sooner. What an amazing show. Watching this righ after the Picard finale is such a big contrast, it made me realise that i should stop watching things i don't enjoy anymore just for the sake of the franchise.

Also recently rewatched Lost, and i got to say, if you have you remote in your hand, and skip all the pointless flashbacks/forwards, the just is still pretty good, even the last couple of seasons (hey, even the time travel stuff is good).

The Expanse i've only seen the first season so far, i will finish it once i'm done with BSG.

@Nick

That is a very peculiar list. I'd put PIC and DSC below ENT, but to each his own.

@Trent

It could be said that they discovered immortality in the episode Rascals. A transporter malfunction transforms Picard e al into children, but with their memories intact.

Re: PIC S1: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2

My expectations of this being an improved version of the TNG movies were mostly met.
Much better than Discovery season 2, but that's hardly a compliment.

I also belive they said that Star Trek Beyond was the best movie of the new trilogy.

Re: PIC S1: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 1

@Nolan said:

"I hate this show. And no I can't explain why I keep watching it. "

We are invested in the franchise, that's why. For all that i absolutely hated sitting through season 2 of Discovery, i just had to watch it, because i have watched everything else.

Re: PIC S1: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 1

All these plot choices and "new directions" that they are taking with new Trek are just a thin layer to disguise the fact that the writers/producers don't know and don't care about the core ideas of Star Trek, they just care about making a TV show, getting paid, and hopefully doing it all over again next year.

I saw Chabon defending the choices of the writing team on instagram the other day. While it could have been a nice gesture, he came off as arrogant. Is the term treksplaining a thing yet?

Re: PIC S1: Nepenthe

The scenes on Riker's home had a good TNG feel to it, very nice. To me, the weak parts continue to be the action on the borg artifact. I'll hold my full judgement for this when the season ends (should have done this from the beginning, but it is never too late i guess!).

Re: PIC S1: Stardust City Rag

Also: Seven becoming a vigilante makes more sense than becoming Mrs. Chakote. Just sayin'.

Re: PIC S1: Stardust City Rag

I'll just say this:

No scenes at the artifact, no Soji, no romulan brothers, and the best episode so far.

A coincidence, this is not.

Re: PIC S1: Absolute Candor

By the way, and i don't want sound negative, but am i the only one feeling that little is going to concluded on this first season? Four episodes of set-up so far (out of ten), i'm afraid of them either cramming too much in the last episodes or leaving it too open in for the secong season (aka annoying cliffhanger).

But anyway, i enjoyed this episode more than last week's, so we'll see how it goes.

Re: PIC S1: The End Is the Beginning

@Booming We all know that it's likely to be number 2. I'm kinda sad of how cynical we've become about DIS and PIC, but there you go.

Re: PIC S1: The End Is the Beginning

I can't get the image of Commodore Oh wearing shades out of my head. A fine addition to one of those "star trek but out of context" videos that are on Youtube.
