Re: DS9 S3: Fascination

Also dudes, there’s literally a decade of projected misogyny in this thread around unresolved issues with women, using Keiko and Lwaxana as placeholders. Ouch. Go sit on a fuckin chaise longue and do better.

Re: DS9 S3: Fascination

Anytime I see a 1-star review I know that it’ll be a terrible bottle episode that I’ll love just as much as the more ambitious, multi-faceted intergalactic story arcs that occur throughout the series (and it usually is). What a welcome diversion from time to time, lest we get 20 straight episodes of Odo in therapy trying to become a fuckin chaise longue.

Wait no that sounds pretty great actually

Re: TNG S7: Parallels

Did worf return to the correct Enterprise though? At the beginning of the episode it starts out with worf receiving a surprise party but at the end of the episode troi said she knows how he hates surprises and talked riker out of throwing one for worf.

If it was the same universe then shouldn't events unfolded the same?

Re: DSC S2: If Memory Serves

I think you guys are too hard on this show. It will almost certainly go down as one of the best sci-fi series of all time. At the moment it's not quite there, sitting just below Andromeda and Stargate:Origins, but give it another season or two.

Re: DSC S1: The War Without, The War Within

This episode was okay but it didn't really come anywhere near hitting the highs of the previous two. The walk-and-talk scene between Burnham and Saru in the beginning felt refreshingly old Trek.

I thought for sure that Burnham lying about meeting (and eating) Kelpians in the MU would be a much larger plot point, but apparently not.

Didn't imagine after the 3 pilot episodes that this show would keep my attention, but here I am. It's been a solid (if deeply flawed) first season.

Re: DSC S1: Lethe

Probably the strongest and most authentically Trek episode thus far. But was anyone remotely surprised when the admiral's delegation was ambushed? Because I sure as hell wasn't. Not exactly suspenseful storytelling.

Re: DSC S1: Choose Your Pain

This is a fine space adventure show. It just isn't Star Trek. :/

Re: DS9 S4: Hard Time

They did WHAT to O'Brien?

I was waiting for the Federation's retaliation the whole episode.

Like as soon as they take the computer thingy off of his head, "We tortured you, surprise!" Kira should have tossed O'Brien a phaser.

Then they should have bombarded the entire planet.

Re: DS9 S7: Take Me Out to the Holosuite

Well, here it is. The worst DS9 episode. Yes, worse than Profit and Lace or Let He Who Is Without Sin (neither of which I found that bad).

First, the absurd premise that they would spend 3 weeks doing this during wartime is absolutely ridiculous. The waste of episode space at this crucial time is criminal when they should be building up to the finale.
Secondly, Sisko's spiel about Solok writing academic psychology papers based on a single isolated incident (wrestling matches) is laughable and should dismiss any claims that Vulcans are the 'superior' species. No one with any basic knowledge about psychology or science in general would accept that you can draw any conclusions from a few spats between Starfleet cadets.
Thirdly, baseball is one of the dumbest and dullest recreations to ever grace the planet and yet the episode assumes we all find it enthralling. The whimsical music when the team is practicing, forcing upon you feelings of 'look! they're hopeless! isn't it amusing?' made me cringe every time.
Finally, was there any doubt that Sisko would somehow emerge triumphant?
I get the episode's intention, that a group of alien races in the future playing an antiquated sport is somehow charming, but it completely fails and instead irritates and grates on the viewer. A terrible episode, completely irrelevant to the series and Star Trek and failing on every count.

Re: DS9 S6: You Are Cordially Invited

I feel like the only reason Jadzia got with Worf was because he is klingon. It always annoyed me how Jadzia seemed to want to be a klingon. Just because Curon worked with Klingons she knows all their rituals, songs and beliefs. I never felt any chemistry between them. I was glad they killed her when she quit the show. I know she offered to do part time work the last season but I'm sure the writers felt like if she was gonna leave them with one season left then Jadzia had to die. Ha. And what's with worf thinking she will be in stovokor. She isn't klingon and shouldn't his woman from tng be waiting for him.

Re: DS9 S7: Take Me Out to the Holosuite

Every time Worf says, "Find him and kill him," an angel gets its wings and then pimp slaps a demon.

According to the DS9 Companion, Max Grodenchik was actually a semi-pro player and the best player of the regular cast.
