Re: VOY S6: Equinox, Part II

I think I've watched through the Voyager series a dozen times but somehow I had never seen these two episodes before. I don't think I was missing much though, I really didn't like this story. I find it very hard to believe that an entire Starfleet crew would turn into a bunch of murderous savages no matter how tough a time they were having, and it's even harder for me to believe that Janeway would turn into such a complete lunatic that the Voyager crew were on the verge of mutiny; why would Chakotay and Tuvok not have relieved her of command? I mean she almost murdered that crewman and was endangering Voyager, then she takes an innocent alien vessel by force, really?

Also what in the world was the deal with her following the Equinox into that planet's atmosphere, is she a complete moron? They obviously wanted her to follow them, it was clearly going to damage Voyager, and for what? It's not like the Equinox was going anywhere. They couldn't stay in the planet's atmosphere forever. This was just a bad episode, I found the one where she and Paris turned into lizards more believable.

Re: VOY S5: Relativity

I really enjoyed this episode, but Braxton was an idiot. His only goal was to prevent Janeway from stranding him in the 20th century, so why blow up Voyager and kill the entire crew when he had all of time to work with and so many better ways to do it? If he wasn't such an idiot he could have simply gone to the array an hour before it pulled Voyager and the Maquis into the Deltra quadrant and blown IT up. Not only would that prevent him from ever being stranded, it would also save the Ocampa just as before while saving Voyager from being lost.

Sure it would erase all the good things they had done in the Delta quadrant as well but he didn't care about any of that. I guess his hatred of Janeway was supposed to make him want to kill her though, but he still could have done that without wiping out the entire ship. Just jump to some earlier point in her timeline, before she even joined Star Fleet. As a member of the time police I'm not sure why he thought he could get away with it anyway.

Re: VOY S5: Someone to Watch Over Me

I don't know how much a gigaquad is but I presume it's a lot. We can put an entire encyclopedia on a single DVD in this century complete with videos and sounds. What in the world was in all that data that 7 recorded?

An alien creature attacks Belana, Janeway draws a phaser on it, the doc yells "No, you'll hurt Belana!". Um...phasers have stun settings right?

Re: VOY S5: Timeless

Chakotay's line about Voyager crashing into the ice at full impulse, that was a dumb line and completely unnecessary. He could have simply said the lower decks were crushed by the weight of the ice, which is a real thing that happens. Planes have been found crashed in arctic regions where after decades of snow and ice piling up on them become buried and crushed flat. Several people mentioned all this already but yeah, if they had crashed at the speed Chakotay said the ship would have been completely obliterated. Also I'm not sure but were those supposed to be spider webs hanging in the corridors, maybe not because that would be silly.

Borg implants sure do get great reception though. He talked about how he could only send a short message and had to do it at the exact right time so 7 could figure out what it meant, but then in the end we also find out he sent a full log entry to himself in glorious high definition...um? So if he could do that why did he not just send a nice big message to them a few days, weeks or even months before the accident going into detail about what happened and how to avoid it, not to mention maybe sending them some new ideas on getting home thanks to having 15 years of advanced knowledge at his disposal. Nitpicks aside I really enjoyed this episode though.

Re: VOY S4: One

I thought it was weird how simply being asleep would prevent radiation burns. The end was kind of silly too; with a ship that size it is impossible that a single person would run out of oxygen in just ten minutes. Also space is an excellent insulator, things just don't instantly turn ice cold.

Re: VOY S4: Demon

It was a goofy episode but I think half a star is kind of harsh, it wasn't that bad. Still, why did they wait until they were almost completely out of power before they went looking for some. Janeway must be like Kramer in The Dealership, driving the ship around until the needle is below E to see how far it can go. More DNA magic too, maybe this fluid can duplicate DNA but what about their clothes, and later on the ship itself? Speaking of later, watching this episode makes me sad now knowing what is going to happen to the duplicates.

Not much to say about this one, I just found it really boring. I felt like I was watching an old episode of Days of Our Lives.

Re: VOY S4: The Omega Directive

This episode really annoyed me. What was the point of going through all that and destroying the molecules, those aliens are just going to make more the first chance they get. All they did was delay them. Janeway should have let Seven stabilize them, that way the aliens could have used them safely. Besides what right does the Federation have to tell other civilizations what to do? The Prime Directive is totally worthless if they can just "rescind" it any time they feel like.

Re: VOY S4: Vis A Vis

Also how did the alien take the wrench off of the holodeck? Surely they were holographic just like the car, garage and everything else. Did Tom actually replicate a set of real wrenches to carry to the holodeck with him? Why would he do that? Does he keep a toolbox full of antique tools in his quarters?

Re: VOY S4: Vis A Vis

So Tom was able to figure out how to make the Coaxial Warp Drive work safely and reliably, and in addition they were even able to modify one of Voyager's own shuttles to use it. So there you go, they have their golden ticket home and... it's never mentioned ever again.

Re: VOY S4: The Killing Game

How does a nomadic species with no planet of their own, wandering around thinly spread out in spaceships, manage to even build these spaceships? How did they ever learn to build them in the first place when they don't seem interested in anything but being primitive savages. Apparently they have this strong instinct to hunt, so who did they hunt before they left their original planet? Each other? This doesn't seem like a species that would have ever survived, let alone build ships with warp technology. How do they even have doctors or scientists, who teaches their kids? Wait do they even have kids? We've never seen any on their ships nor any females yet they don't have a home planet...ugh. They're one the silliest one-dimensional villains this show has ever produced.

Re: VOY S4: Prey

Janeway was a moron in this episode. How many times has she nearly gotten the entire crew killed or sacrificed a way home to help complete strangers or obey alien laws? It's too bad Chakotay didn't take command of Voyager in the beginning, they'd have probably been home by now.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it in 9 years, but that's a myth and not true at all.

Re: VOY S2: Resistance

"Correct me if I am wrong, and this goes for any episode where they lose a comm badge, How the hell can Caylem and Janeway communicate without her universal handy dandy comm badge? "

I thought universal translators were implants, like in the DS9 episode Little Green Men. In any case there's no point trying to understand how the universal translators work because they have never made any sense at all and never will. They're just a Macguffin to explain why we don't have to read subtitles.

Re: VOY S1: Eye of the Needle

They could have beamed themselves back to the alpha quadrant and then had themselves put in stasis for 20 years. Then when they were awakened they'd be back home in their own time and for them no time would have passed at all.

Re: VOY S2: The 37's

Clara - "The “37s “ we’re supposed to be the ancestors of the current human population on this planet. How was that possible being they had been in cryo-stasis for 400 years- presumably from the moment of their abduction . How were they able to produce offspring during this period. of cryo-stasis?"

If I recall correctly they said that hundreds of humans had been abducted and they were being used as slave labor, therefore most were not in cryostasis. The only ones still frozen were the group in the episode and they were probably just the latest batch brought in; the revolt must have happened before they could be revived by the aliens and put to work.

Re: VOY S2: The 37's

I don't know if anyone mentioned it but didn't Voyager look really front-heavy when it was landed? Seems like it would have immediately tipped forward crashing the saucer section into the ground. Also why is this the only time they ever landed the ship? Reminds me of the gimmick of how the Enterprise D could separate the saucer section but they only did it a couple of times during the entire series.

My biggest complaint was the truck though, more specifically the part where Paris says there is still water in the radiator, gasoline in the engine, the battery is charged and he starts it right up. All completely impossible and ridiculous. That and the goofy part where the truck backfires and Tuvok starts pointing his phaser around as if he thinks they are gunshots and can't figure out where the sound is coming from. Very illogical.

Re: VOY S1: Faces

The stilted speech was really annoying, they were trying way too hard to imitate Lursa and B'Etor. Is that supposed to be how all female Klingons talk? We learn our speech patterns and accents from those we grow up with, not from our genes. I also agree that leaving the prisoners without even attempting to rescue them was very wrong.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks

Honestly I got bored about halfway through it, none of it seemed funny to me, the jokes were all dumb and I hated how hyperactive everyone was. I'm really tired of this Family Guy style animation too. Nothing about it seemed like Star Trek to me, at all. They're obviously just milking the name, it really could have been called "Wacky Space Tales" or anything else and nothing would have changed. I probably won't bother watching next week.

Re: PIC S1: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2

Would Picard really have wanted this? I remember an episode of TNG where he lectured someone for cheating death and now he's gone and done the same thing. They should have saved his dying for the end of the series instead of this pointless reset button of making him an android when it doesn't really change anything apparently other than he's no longer dying. The whole illness thing could have been completely left out altogether since it wouldn't really have changed the story much at all.

What is it with CBS and the stupid "Last time on" flashbacks for their shows? They aren't even flashbacks from the last episode but random snippets from the entire season. It's so annoying to have to skip past them every time I watch a new episode.

Re: ORV S2: Lasting Impressions

I really enjoyed this episode, and Bortus smoking on the bridge was hilarious. My only real nitpick was that it seems a bit of a stretch that they would have so little knowledge about life in the 21st century, to the point they didn't even know what a cell phone was, yet they watch old movies all the time and the captain even has Kermit the frog sitting on his desk. It also seems pretty unlikely that all the stuff from that time capsule would still look brand new. Not a big deal though, still a great episode. This show just keeps getting better.

Re: ENT S3: Doctor's Orders

Honestly I thought the T'Pol twist was obvious from the start. It was very clear in the beginning of the episode that the entire crew would be comatose except him. They wouldn't have made such a big deal about showing him how to work everything if T'Pol was going to be awake too. She was also acting very out of character and I just didn't buy the explanation that she was being affected by the anomoly. As soon as it became obvious the doctor was hallucinating it was clear he was also imagining her as well. Now I still enjoyed the episode, I just felt the twist didn't work.

I wonder he if included almost shooting the captain's dog in his official report.
