Re: ORV S1: Old Wounds
Jammer's reviewing this weird piece of televised fan fiction?
...
Dang. I was out after the pilot (which...not great), but now I might actually have to watch this thing after discovering these.

Re: DS9 S1: Duet
The problem with DS9's first season wasn't so much outright /bad/ episodes as a lot of mediocre ones. I wouldn't put "Move Along Home" or "If Wishes Were Horses" on a list of the series' top worst offerings. But I don't need to see them again.
That said, there was gold there as well. "The Emissary" remains the best pilot to launch any Trek series and "Vortex" as a great teaser to Odo's origins. I enjoyed "Battle Lines" but in retrospect I wish Opaka's story had been revisited, or at least given a stronger closer. "Duet," of course, is one of the best DS9 ever did.

Re: BSG S4: He That Believeth in Me
Like Lee of Kara, I don't care about the manner in which it came back. It's back! It's back! And it has my love despite its flaws.
I wonder when they'll break out Dr. Baltar's Fully-Functional Cylon Detector (patent pending). Tigh referencing it must have been intentional.

Re: TNG S4: Redemption, Part I
Woot! More TNG reviews! Keep them coming, Jammer.
Looking back on the way the Klingon storyline played out, it's rather amazing for its time. Arc storytelling was certainly around in 1990s TV but it wasn't anywhere near popular. I know the Klingon episodes aren't strictly speaking a true arc, but they were the first truly successful foray into even an attempt at arc writing that "Star Trek" made. Ron Moore's influence is clear.
It's extremely satisfying to look back at Gowron in these mid-TNG days, knowing what will happen to him through DSG, right up to "Tacking the Wind." The 'Klingon thing' became overdone in New Trek, but that storyline is probably one of the strongest and most satisfying that show's ever produced. Quite an achievement, when you look at it in the long view.

Re: TNG S4: Clues
Yay! TNG reviews!
I'm a long-time lurker on your site, Jammer. All the way back to when Voyager was still airing, and I've always very much enjoyed your commentary.
I also really enjoyed "Clues." It may not have the same impact on second viewing but it remains an engaging episode.
The fourth season overall is first-rate TV. I never noticed the running theme of family in it until I read your reviews.
I look forward to more.
