Re: VOY S5: The Disease

I spent the first half of the episode wondering why they had to have Voyager docked to the massive ship instead of using the usual methods of transportation. But as soon as the hull-eating parasite makes its debut it all became clear - the ship had also contracted a 'sexually' transmitted virus; ho ho!
Hardly worth the contrivance, but ultimately the least of the episode's flaws.

Re: VOY S4: Year of Hell, Part I

The concept of a 'Year of Hell' was not necessarily created based on the Krenim being antagonists throughout, but possibly on that of Voyager being kicked from pillar to post over the course of a season. In fact I suspect the time aspect may have been added specifically to make the idea work in the short term. I could be wrong, but the trouble here is that such a scenario is entirely believable due to the writers tendency to take the easy road with Voyager.

Re: VOY S4: The Raven

IIRC The Raven was described as being "partially assimilated" by the Borg; I wonder, could Seven have originally been scripted to interface with the ruin of The Raven, thus fortifying it against the (strangely feeble) attacks by the Bomar in much the same manner as she did with the shuttlecraft. The glowing green console discovered by Seven supports this theory by demonstrating that the derelict ship wasn't quite as defunct as it otherwise appeared.
