Re: TOS S2: The Ultimate Computer

Jason, I assume that the military would use it’s own scientists, that Daystrom was a Starfleet researcher.

Nonetheless, when you are on a vessel of the military at least in my country, the captain is the governor of the civilians as much as he is the commander of the soldiers, and with certain exceptions such as the President or Prime Minister who is obviously superior to even a general, being outside of the chain of command means being below it. Of course this is an American show of American values, and Americans are much more likely to tolerate disorder and allow haughty speech in the name of the golden calf called freedom which is so venerated in that society.

Re: TOS S2: The Ultimate Computer

Perhaps this is a cultural difference but I am quite surprised how Dr Daystrom was allowed to address the captain with such disrespect. I was in my nation’s military and if anyone, regardless of their expertise, spoke to their commander or captain in such a manner they would have been put in confinement.

Re: DS9 S5: Children of Time

@Elliot

“So much for free will”

There is no such thing, and even if by some unfortunate fluke there was, there would still be a right and a wrong choice. That people would have those choices make no sense, which is why we choose nothing, we are all following a script.

Also, are you really a man? Your diction and syntax is very effeminate.
