Re: TOS S2: The Trouble With Tribbles

Kirk's reaction to the grain is great. "What, what now?!" "Grain?! I don't want to hear any more about grains!?" He's just totally clueless to everything going on around him for like five minutes of runtime straight. Great to see this scene as soon as waking up

Re: DS9 S1: If Wishes Were Horses

This episode is wholesome and fun! Love the sexual tension and sexual energy between Bashir and Dax. Also love the "look, i don't wanna be here either man." Attitude of dancing man from Twin Peaks. Great casting and loved hearing him talk..not back-wards. Great episode.

Re: DS9 S1: Dax

Imagine finding out your dad was not only cucked by the same man you've been obsessed with bringing down, but it was your own dad who actually betrayed your own people. Absolute humiliation! If I were Bashir I would put that dude on suicide watch.

Re: TOS S2: Wolf in the Fold

Just seeing Scotty leering at the exotic dancer in the opening is worth watching this episode. I honestly wasn't surprised she was dead within five minutes of going off into the fog

Re: TNG S7: Attached

Near the end, when they bring the Abassador back to the ship, try to call the Minister again, she terminates the communication. About six seconds later, the same Minister is waiting for them in the Conference Room. Did Riker just record an earlier transmission and then have Worf pop it in the VCR for the Ambassador to watch? Did he try to communicate with her, get hung up on and then have her beamed up? Not clear at all

Hopefully that giant war she absolutely had to return to and try to prevent...like....worked itself out eventually. Hopefully her pesky family didn't ask any questions

Re: DS9 S1: A Man Alone

The Bajoran mafia guy is unintentionally hilarious. His angery lip curling snarls at Odo never fail to crack me up

Re: DS9 S1: The Passenger

Why did the alien mercenary not pull a phaser on Vantika/Bashir and force him to lower the shields or just stun him. That could have been a fun way to end the episode and frankly, the way they end this episode is a let down. Where did the other two alien marauders go? Plot hole filled and lame.

Re: DS9 S5: The Ship

I did not buy the Muinz subplot. Colm Meany is an outstanding actor but even he can't make lame "shop talk" convincing or that entertaining. When Muinz finally succumbs to his extremely physically and psychologically agonizing wounds, I thought Meany did a fine hit of acting. However, Dax immediately bursting into tears, mascera running wild seemed like way too strong a reaction for a basically redshirt character. Overall, this episode gets 3.5/5 from me.

Re: DS9 S4: Sons of Mogh

Agree that Tony Todd did very well with this story. His mix of klingon stoicism, humor and despair feels genuine. The ending bugged me a bit, I know Kurn would probably have committed suicide had his memory not been erased but giving him a totally new identity seems like taking away a person's right to choose. Still a 5/5 for Todd's performance

Re: TNG S6: Face of the Enemy

Mom rewatch of 2020 goes great tonight. Mom is loving this one and always been a favourite of mine own as well. Besides the plot hole of no one noticing her being gone its a GREAT thriller episode. 7.5/10 junja sticks for me

Indiana Jones Last Crusade is on tonight so #Mom Rewatch2020 is postponed for this episode as it is so bad. I literally told my mom to keep watching this movie instead

Re: VOY S2: Meld

This would be a four star for me. Tuvok getting emotions is of course contrived but the route taken to get to this scene is creatively done. I was surprised Voyager even talked about cold blooded murder let alone devote an episode exploring it. The whole episode feels dark and the scenes between Suder and Tuvok have a malicious undercurrent that feels just below the surface. The direction was effective throughout as well.

Continuing my Mom 2020 rewatch, it was interesting to me how my mother saw the exocomps as a jesus figure. I didnt get that all but interesting to see how boomers think

Re: DS9 S6: Honor Among Thieves

Could not agree more about how skilled Meany is.
He is one of those actors who truly understands what "less is more" means and uses it to great effect. Understsatement meets his clear passion for acting and is especially showcased in this episode. Character shows like this really make up the other part of ds9 that isn't the dominion war arc.

Re: VOY S5: Once Upon a Time

Neelix and Naomi have great comedic value in this epidode. Their scene where they talk about 7 of 9 assimilating the crew, I actually enjoyed the light hearted yet sincere feeling generated by the actors.

Re: TNG S5: Conundrum

I thought it was realistic and an ahead of it's time feminist statement that Ro was sexually harassing Riker. Women get horny. and it was great to see her being so aggressive to get what she wanted

Re: TNG S5: The Perfect Mate

The whole "I am for you" callback from TOS sets a nice sleazy tone for what is indeed a nice sleazy episode of TNG!
Bad enough episode to watch alone, absolutely embarrassing to endure during the Great Mom Rewatch of 2020. Sad!

Ahh The great Mom-Rewatch of 2020 continues! My mom guessed the kid would act like Data a good 5 minutes before the show even broached the subject. I agree with the "audience smart" thing.
And Miester i agree they could have at least done a two-for and included Alexander in this episode!!

Re: TNG S5: A Matter of Time

The writers must have been inhaling from the plasma conduits when writing this one. Plus that actor is just awful. If you're going to have that lame of a guest character,at least be sure he can carry a full 45 minutes. This guy was slightly entertaining maybe for two minutes of his screen time. The rest were just his cringe inducing smirks and "flirting" with the women. Also made Beverly look more stupid than she usually does when she actually seemed "receptive" to his attempts at charm. 2/10 episode.

Re: DS9 S6: Behind the Lines

I actually enjoyed that the "C" Defiant/Sensor Array plot was widescreen. I thought it was going to be a Big Action battle and was amused when it was realised what had happened.

Re: TNG S5: Silicon Avatar

Ahhh, the great "watch tng with my mom" of 2020 continues. I asked her if I died if she would find it weird to ask someone to read something in my voice. She said it would definitely feel weird. Crazy scientist lady got what she deserved with that devastating ending. Data just crushes any hope she might have had as the grim reality of her actions becomes fully realised to her. Not a great 'sode but not totally brainless either. 6.5/10
