Re: VOY S4: Year of Hell, Part II

Annorax was said to be a type of ‘Nemo’ in the reviews, etc. I submit that the REAL Nemo is Janeway—in all of her singular determination regarding her ship and crew. The enemy. Anything that threatens them. Mulgrew, especially in her final scene with Tuvok demonstrated the depths of that loyalty and the ferocity of that loyalty. Yes...there are problems with script, editing, etc but that is Star Trek. Overriding that, though, is Mulgrew. She gives us a darker, more complex Janeway and I enjoyed that!

Re: VOY S4: The Gift

On a personal note, I never got the Kes character....ever....and somehow felt the Neelix/kes relationship was just creepy. To continue the personal note, I thought 7 of 9 was a welcome addition—just overused, at times. But ‘defeating The Borg’ by ‘de-assimilation ‘ was a stroke of irony and genius.
This episode showcased Janeway becoming what she never expected to be — the ‘single working mom’, juggling work duties and mom duties as she doggedly headed for home. While not a perfect episode by any means, Mulgrew sold the balancing act to me....

Re: Star Trek: Generations

Nimoy said it best when he turned down being in this ‘tour de farce’....too many problems to fix in too short of time.

Re: VOY S7: Q2

I realize that the vast majority of people who frequent this site think ST-TNG is nothing short of perfection and that ST-Voyager is nothing but its ‘red-headed step child’ but you all are really chucking spit balls into the wind! This episode was fun. Period. It wasn’t a grandiose statement about anything but fun. Seriously. Stop taking yourselves so seriously. And, we get it. TNG— nothing short of excellent. Voyager— nothing but spittle from the mouth of all that is good and Picardish....🤦🏼‍♀️

You all take it too seriously. It wasn’t a great episode but it was entertaining. Lighten up!

Re: VOY S7: Imperfection

One of my favorites.... I agree that 7 was overused in STV at times and certainly they could have spaced the 7 oriented eps out a bit better but that aside, they did a good job with this one. I liked the honesty of fear that was displayed....the honesty between 7 and Torres in facing the unknown territory after death....the honesty between 7 and Janeway about their relationship.... I understood the desire of Janeway to take the Flyer on her own in an attempt to save 7– it was a ‘mom’ instinct to do whatever it took to save her child. Mulgrew at her best in this— nuanced and barely controlled..... Yeah. Imperfection was just about perfection...!

Re: VOY S7: Unimatrix Zero, Part II

Come on, people...! Your animus and bias is all too palpable.... Again, the writers are working under SEVERE time constraints not to mention ST canon expectations set down by ‘The Great Bird of The Galaxy ‘.... Present a problem, develop tension, display inhumanity then conquer said inhumanity with humanity, all the while displaying appropriate amounts of flesh and sex appeal and do it all in 45 minutes or less. In my humble opinion, STV does that as well if not better in most cases than any other incarnation. I liked UMZ...1 and 2. Given the above parameters, I think it succeeded remarkably well. Was it ‘perfection’? Of course not! But I can live with the imperfections....

Re: VOY S4: Hope and Fear

Vengeance and “playing GOD”....two sides of the same coin. I liked this episode. Sure, bits were contrived but isn’t that the ST we’ve come to know and love/tolerate? ‘Writers—you have 45 mins to develop a conflict, characters and conclusion! Ready, set go!”
Janeway had two missions— One, find the Maquis and her Security/Tactical Officer (which she accomplished) and then Two, get her ship and crew home. I find it fascinating to watch her walk the line (and, sometimes stumble over the line) to accomplish that mission.... Every choice brings consequences—a life lesson for us all.

Re: VOY S4: Hunters

First, I am a Voyager fan AND I am a definite Janeway fan.... Like ALL ST episodes...including all versions of same....they have a finite amount of time to create a problem, mount a theory and then execute a solution that reaffirms the ‘humanity’ of those plucky humans. THOSE are the unassailable parameters of the ST universe set forth by ‘The Great Bird of The Galaxy’ long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away...😉. Very, very few episodes defy that mandate—usually to their own peril. Having said all that, I think think the acting (Mulgrew) and the ‘finality’ of The highlighted letters outweighs the obligatory sugar rush of the ending. You all are harsh...and, for some reason you all like to bully this incarnation of the ST ‘verse like nobody’s business! I say, Live Long and Prosper, Voyager and Janeway!

Re: VOY S7: Endgame

As with all ST series, Voyager had ups and downs—judging by what I have read here, not only for this episode but all others, there is great animosity for this particular incarnation of Roddenberry’s ‘wagon train to the stars’...so much so that I doubt anything could elicit a favorable review. I am not going to try and offer a defense as such for this finale or for the entire run except to say that, for Mulgrew/Janeway ALONE, I will forever be a fan of this ST run— We had ego with Kirk; erudition with Picard; emancipation with Cisco and eagerness with Archer....and with Janeway....we found equality. She was the captain I, as a female Trekkie (I go waaaay back) was looking for! For the record, I liked the way they ended it. For the record, I rewatch Voyager on Netflix A LOT! Just wanted to be the voice of ‘the loyal opposition ‘ on this site..... Live long and prosper.
