Re: VOY S7: Endgame

I'm glad they got home. I agree with Leah's above comment/proposal for the final scene. The ending is just a bit too abrupt. They should have shown everyone for just a couple minutes on Earth, just to give me time to tear up in happiness. Unlike some commenters, I mostly prefer to use my imagination on how their lives turn out on Earth. But some quick smiles, embraces, tears, and reunions would have given this a more complete feeling. I also would have liked Admiral Janeway to have told us just a few more reasons that going back earlier was preferable. Like maybe the crew in general got depressed as the years dragged on, lost their curiosity and desire to help planets and people in need, etc. There didn't have to be more death and destruction, but some indication that the majority of the crew would have definitely been happier with getting home sooner would have been nice.

I also have a problem with the whole Chakotay/Seven thing. I actually thought the actors sold it quite well, considering how last minute it was. . . But it was too last minute. Lots of people in the comments above seem to have a problem with it because they think SEVEN should have ended up with someone else. But I don't care who Seven ends up with. Could be some rando on Earth after she is finally done figuring out what it means to be human. I feel like Harry would have been the most obvious choice from the Voyager crew, since she has already turned the Doctor down pretty decidedly, but the point is, she didn't need to end up with anyone. That was never her arc. My problem is with Chakotay and Janeway not getting together, considering they've been on a slow boil the entire show, with the only reason they couldn't get together being that Janeway was his captain. I would have liked them clasping hands or something when they see Earth. Or perhaps the show didn't need to show anything between them at all, but if they hadn't chosen to shoehorn in the Seven thing, we could have chosen to envision any future for them we chose.

In general, I'm much less bothered by the ending than most, and you can put me in that rare group of people who likes TNG, VOY, and DS9 all equally, for different reasons.

Re: DS9 S2: Whispers

O'Brien orders his Jamaican coffee, double strong, double sweet so many times in this episode that I kept expecting it to be a plot point. Like, maybe it wasn't O'Brien's normal coffee order and that's what tipped them off that it wasn't him, haha. The fact that it didn't mean anything actually bothers me a little because it was so prevalent; what was the point?

Anyway, great episode, I've always enjoyed this one.

Re: VOY S2: Innocence

Just rewatched this episode on Netflix and I have some mixed feelings. I like the ending as well as the focus on Tuvok's character and the insight into Vulcan parenting. But the setup was a mess. From the beginning of the episode Voyager is in contact with the Drayans, who are aware that Voyager has sent out scouting parties to survey the surrounding moons. If this particular moon is so sacred why did the Drayans not warn them not to expore it? Based on experience we know Janeway and Tuvok would never violate that kind of warning so presumably they had no clue. I like the episode for the unique concept but the setup is definitely lacking in logic.

Re: VOY S5: Warhead

Had to comment just to say this episode lost all appeal when Janeway said "outsmart the smart bomb" five episodes after saying "out think the think tank"....her one liners kill me

Re: VOY S6: Spirit Folk

I enjoyed this episode. Holodeck episodes are supposed to be fun. Calm down. And to some of the others I think voyager was better than DS9.

Re: VOY S6: Tsunkatse

I'm really not understanding all the negativity. They weren't hypocritical by not enjoying the matches once seven was involved. They stopped enjoying it when they realized that the contestants were not volunteers but prisoners forced to fight. I really enjoyed this episode and I think you all should lighten up. Also about the doctor saying that about tuvoks personality he's a hologram of a human. So he thinks like a human.

Re: DS9 S6: Rocks and Shoals

Hey are you THEE MARCO PALMIERI? of the DS9 continuation books?!?! Cool you like to rewatch the initial DS9 stories. I've got ALL of your DS9 post series books. The only version of the Trek universe that I follow.

Re: DS9 S5: A Simple Investigation

As my previous post upthread implied and is now vindicated, little fanboys can only appreciate this episode if only Odo could be humanoid to allow classic literary fratboy penis, boner dick subtext angst humor so they could identify with their adolescent mentality. That'd be real drama, har har.
Otherwise, Odo changeling with women is icky, he ain't got a glorious dick.

Re: DS9 S5: A Simple Investigation

I also think this episode was a needed character advancement for Odo to be seen as sexual and capable of sexual intimacy so if there was to be additional growth in the Odo and Kira relationship or anyone else it wouldn't weird or ick from low imaginationed sexually frustrated fanboys.

It was clearly shown Kira was intrigued and mildly jealous the thought a solid woman found Odo attractive/sexually appealing. Made her stepback about her own feelings towards him and Odo actually would be interested to return the affection, being that she had in Crossfire blown him off as inhuman and uninterested in emotional or relationship situations.

Re: BSG S4: Faith

This is one of my favorite episodes of Season 4. Mary McDonnell really did a fantastic job.
