Re: VOY S7: Friendship One

By Keeling I meant Neelix.

Re: VOY S7: Friendship One

Considering Keeling gets teary-eyed if murderers aren't allowed access to a proper meal, I was surprised by the complete lack of emotion from him after Carey got shot.

The opening sequence and Carey's death were beautifully executed (musical score when Carey got shot was a perfect match), but they felt disconnected from the rest of the episode, which was pretty crappy.

The episode was anticlimactic. Disappointing that Verin just got away with murder.

Re: VOY S5: Course: Oblivion

I'm having some issues with the distances in this episode. The duplicates were using an enhanced Warp drive that put then way ahead of the real Voyager, despite the real Voyager getting knocked tens of thousands of light years forward in episodes between this one and Demon. Then the duplicates turn around and are allegedly weeks from returning to the planet of origin when they almost bump into Voyager again.

If they were able to travel thousands of light years in weeks, why would they bump into Voyager so close to the Y-planet? Chronologically, the episode would have to take place not long after Demon. Otherwise, they traveled more than 25,000 light years in weeks and would have been weeks from reaching Earth.

Re: VOY S5: The Disease

The episode is pretty good for what it is. Janeway's reaction was believable (as a captain), as was Harry's. The lack of consistency with previous episodes (didn't Paris sex up an alien woman in an earlier season?) bothered me a bit, though.

And why didn't Tal join Voyager? She was obviously romantically involved with Kim, and she wanted to explore the galaxy. Any reason why she couldn't become Harry's girl? I'd give it 2 stars.

Re: VOY S5: Thirty Days

The opening shot of Janeway demoting Paris apparently wasn't reused for the later shot. In the first shot, she removes his rank insignia while demoting him - in the latter, she removes it before demoting him. Also, 30 days in solitary confinement without a razor, and he barely grew a stubble?

However, the most ridiculous thing was when the scientist of this space-faring civilization said that he believed the giant ball of liquid water encapsulated in a force field was created naturally in space.

Re: VOY S4: Day of Honor

The Cataati remind me of the first (and only) time I decided to give some money to a beggar. I handed him $10, and he smiled all over. When I started to walk away, he grabbed my arm and wanted more money. When I told him I didn't have any more cash on me (truth), he grabbed my jacket sleeve and yanked on it. I told him he couldn't have my jacket, and then he started yelling angrily. When I turned around to walk away, he spat at me.

Watching this episode was a trip down memory lane. The Cataati ask for help, singing the Voyager crew's praises, but then they return and ask for more. And more. And when they can't have more, they start making demands, and then they become hostile.

I sympathize with them, but this episode lacked some much needed Janeway toughness. The ending felt... Anticlimactic. Like the Vidiian storyline. The show is essentially promoting pacifism at this point. Roll with the blows, and whatever you do, don't stand up for yourself. Seems to be the Voyager motto.
