Re: ENT S4: The Augments

Having re-watched a fair few episodes of Enteprise during lock down I have come to one conclusion.

It really was shit.

Re: TNG S2: Q Who

I wonder about The Borg became the Borg. At some point one of their scientists said "Right, I've got cracking idea. We'll all link our thoughts together and be really efficient. Only downside is we lose all traces of individuality. Apart from this Queen thing but don't worry about that."
Did the whole planet say "Yep, in!"
I can't help but think the first race The Borg assimilated against it's will was it's own.

@Jammer - Any plans to add The Mandalorian reviews to your Star Wars secton?

Re: PIC S1: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2

Overall a satisfying end to an enjoyable series.

Not perfect but it was not hard work to watch, I don't really felt any episodes dragged that much, no out and out stinkers. Wont be rushing to watch it again but I have the feeling I probably will.

7.5/10

Re: VOY S5: Counterpoint

Yeah, just watched this again for the first time in yonks and it really is one of Voyagers best episodes. Top 10 without a doubt.

Re: PIC S1: Broken Pieces

Another great episode, really enjoyed this one. Didn't mind the stuff on the cube but probably the weakest section. All the Borg being jettisoned was pretty chilling, as was Seven's reaction.
3 F bombs, kind of used to them now so not a biggie for me either. They're unnecessary but they don't spoil it.
3.5 easy.

Re: PIC S1: Nepenthe

Lose track of all the comments but sure I saw people saying that the Romulan Super Nova would have caused huge problems in other systems etc.
Except that Spock dropped Red Matter in it, containing it and then sending him back in time from the singularity in created, or something.

So that's that sorted anyway.

Re: PIC S1: Nepenthe

@Drea - Totally agree. I really cannot understand why people need everything broken down for them in the story. A few gaps for you to make stuff up, that as your suggestion is usually pretty obvious.
The season would be 30 episodes long if every person had to explain why they know what they know or did what they did without the viewer having some leaps of logic.

Re: TNG S5: I, Borg

Surprised people aren't revisiting this, and commenting, given the links to Picard.
Just watched this again and it reminded me this is a true masterclass of Trek.
Maybe something the newer series will fail to match, but that doesn't mean they aren't still fun.

Re: PIC S1: Nepenthe

Yeah, that was lovely. A filler episode perhaps but what a way to do a filler!
No complaints, not even Hugh "dying"

I think I'm pretty close to a 4 on this. Last few episodes have been great. I'm really enjoying this series.

Kosinski is like another Maddox. Starfleet really did recruit some utter knobs.

Re: TNG S2: The Measure of a Man

Surprised people haven't come back to this with it's relevance to the new Picard series.

Re: PIC S1: Stardust City Rag

I think the opening scene is so graphic to make us feel OK when 7 vaporises her at the end. We've seen people killed in cold blood before on Star Trek, Weyoun by Garak in DS9 springs to mind.
Yes it was nasty, yes it was uncomfortable to watch but given this whole series has been framed as more adult Trek, swearing etc, I can accept it.
As for the rest of the episode. Picard hamming it up was excellent and overall. Good episode, one of the best yet.

Re: PIC S1: Absolute Candor

Slow episode but not half as bad the whingers on here make it out to be. The amount of poor TNG or Voyager episodes you had to wade through to get some decent ones, even Picard's weak episodes are still watchable.

Re: TNG S3: Sarek

Great episode but another bloody classical concert. Constant laziness (in the writing) that the boldly going, forward thinking Federation just live in the past culturally.

Re: PIC S1: Remembrance

Thoroughly enjoyed that and can't wait for the next episode. I'm not going to nitpick it to death. There are very few movies or TV shows that can stand up to a rigorous dissection. Just enjoying seeing Picard on screen again and enjoying the tone.

Re: DS9 S7: It's Only a Paper Moon

Fantastic episode but again, as mentioned earlier, hammers home the trope that everyone in the future listens to music from centuries before. Classical, Big Band and the like or they're all fascinated by old stories (Sherlock Holmes/Captain Proton/Shakespeare)

Everything moved forward, medicine, technology but music and art just stopped.

But yeah. Goof episode.

Re: Star Trek: Insurrection

Watched this last night for the first time in absolutely ages and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Light and breezy, I think the humour works and doesn't feel too forced apart from a couple of jokes. A decent story, cool bad guys, a funky space battle.
Yeah, not the best but not the worst. I reckon this is a 3.
