Re: MAND S2: Chapter 14: The Tragedy

Not an ounce of fat on that one. At the start the short episodes really annoyed me, like I was being short changed... I realise now they just tell the story they need to and don't fill it out with crap. Man, did that get a lot in that half hour.
Wont drop heavy spoilers just yet but I think that will be everything we wanted to see in that character returning!

Re: MAND S2: Chapter 13: The Jedi

Oh man, that was amazing.
Thrawn getting a name drop was amazing as well. I read the EU books that first came out in the 90's with him in so the potential for him to be in this series is super exciting.

Re: DSC S3: Unification III

@Dogcat - Much as I am enjoying this season I totally agree with you. One of the good things about the other Treks is much as they had their main focus on the Captain, everyone got at least an episode a season. I appreciate they had double the amount of episodes to work with and we got a lot of filler as a result but we also learned about the characters. That they focused on bit part players like O'Brien so that when he joined DS9 he was already a character you knew. No reason, like you say that some of these characters couldn't do a bit of the heavy lifting now and then.

So as for the episode. I liked it. I think the Tilly decision whilst definitely odd was actually handled well. The main story was a lot better, especially seeing Burnham get publicly shamed pretty much. I tuned out early on season 2 so not sure what the deal with her Mum is.

Re: DSC S3: Scavengers

Enjoyed it but it felt a bit weaker, especially after the last couple of episodes. I don't mind action. Star Trek has action, that's cool. I do agree that Burnham's constant focus on the burn, whilst the sort of thing we'd expect her character to do is just full on. I could have quite happily had a season of just "Lets get used to the future" before they solved the mystery of the burn and get everything back as it was, or as near as. My worry is that the season finale will be the burn fixed and all the planets coming together again... Which is a great end goal but lets not spunk it in one season.

No need for ice spiders. Horrifying...

Fun episode though.

Re: MAND S2: Chapter 9: The Marshal

My Son and I loved this episode. The Tusken raider getting eaten instead of the Bantha bait was hilarious.

Re: DSC S3: Die Trying

Yeah, another good episode. Not a world beater but entertaining and feels like Star Trek.
I continue to be happy with this season.

Re: DSC S3: Forget Me Not

Got me in the feels that did.
A few bits were a little cheesy but overall that was a really good episode. Inclined to agree that it is probably Discovery's best. Enjoyed all of this season so far but that was up many notches. I hope they can continue this.

Re: DSC S3: People of Earth

I am enjoying this season so far. It's not amazing but I keep wanting to come back each week... and should the point arise that I don't. I wont. I'm not going to watch something that pisses me off. Learned that from many other TV series before this.

Re: DSC S3: Far From Home

Apart from the "Burnham saves the day" at the end I pretty much enjoyed this episode.
Not off to a bad start and I am looking forward to seeing Earth soon.

Re: DSC S3: That Hope Is You, Part 1

Assuming that lots of people are going to ditch this now given the out pouring of derision for the this episode.
Should make the comments section on the next episode a little less bleak. ;o)

Re: DSC S3: That Hope Is You, Part 1

Yeah, some of that was corny and poorly written but I actually like where they're going with it and the last 10 minutes were super cool.

I'm invested to know more and will be watching the next episode with interest.

Yeah and Warp Speed, how is that even possible?

Alright Captain Buzzkill. It's just a TV show.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks

This does look pretty shit to be honest but if it appears on Amazon or something, as a UK viewer, then I'll probably watch the first episode to give it a go.
Expectation levels are pretty low and I like Rick & Morty.

Also would love to see your thoughts on the last Star Wars movie.

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

OK, so seeing this at the cinema and with rose tinted goggles I was entertained.

Tried to watch it at home on Disney+ and could barely get through it. I did actually switch it off before the end.
Still not as dull as Solo or Attack of the Clones but pretty bad.

Having re-watched a fair few episodes of Enteprise during lock down I have come to one conclusion.

It really was shit.

Re: TNG S2: Q Who

I wonder about The Borg became the Borg. At some point one of their scientists said "Right, I've got cracking idea. We'll all link our thoughts together and be really efficient. Only downside is we lose all traces of individuality. Apart from this Queen thing but don't worry about that."
Did the whole planet say "Yep, in!"
I can't help but think the first race The Borg assimilated against it's will was it's own.

Re: PIC S1: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2

Overall a satisfying end to an enjoyable series.

Not perfect but it was not hard work to watch, I don't really felt any episodes dragged that much, no out and out stinkers. Wont be rushing to watch it again but I have the feeling I probably will.

7.5/10

Yeah, just watched this again for the first time in yonks and it really is one of Voyagers best episodes. Top 10 without a doubt.

Re: PIC S1: Broken Pieces

Another great episode, really enjoyed this one. Didn't mind the stuff on the cube but probably the weakest section. All the Borg being jettisoned was pretty chilling, as was Seven's reaction.
3 F bombs, kind of used to them now so not a biggie for me either. They're unnecessary but they don't spoil it.
3.5 easy.

Re: PIC S1: Nepenthe

Lose track of all the comments but sure I saw people saying that the Romulan Super Nova would have caused huge problems in other systems etc.
Except that Spock dropped Red Matter in it, containing it and then sending him back in time from the singularity in created, or something.

So that's that sorted anyway.
