Re: DS9 S6: Profit and Lace

I can only assume that the collective Trek fanbase has sticks shove arm-deep up their collective poopers.

This episode wasn't nearly as horrid as everybody seems to want to claim. I found myself laughing throughout most of the episode.

Re: DS9 S6: Valiant

I understand what the writers were TRYING to do with this episode, but unfortunately it falls flat when they end up delivering their allegory with all the finesse of severe blunt trauma.

Re: DS9 S6: The Reckoning

I don't think I'll ever understand why some people seem to think that Kai Winn was anything other than a self-serving bitch. Every single time I've seen her on the screen, she's been trying to weasel her way into or out of something. And every single time she's appeared to be sympathetic or reasonable, that snake of a smile appears on her face, reminding me that no matter how saccharin she acts, she's still selfish and the closest thing to evil this side of Dukat himself.

Re: DS9 S6: Far Beyond the Stars

I don't care so much about his "overacting," my problem with it is that what he was screaming just didn't make any sense in context with the scene.

Re: DS9 S5: Nor the Battle to the Strong

I've always felt Lofton's acting was a little stiff, but the episode overall was enthralling.

For those who are pissing about DS9, keep in mind that the Enterprise is comprised of the "best of the best" from Starfleet. They're on the front lines, discovering new races and worlds, where having the absolute cream of the proverbial crop is necessary to facilitate relations.

On the other hand, you have Deep Space 9, which is a public hub of travel and trade within the quadrant. It's a completely different situation, requiring completely different methods.

And anybody who wants to preach about TNG's adherence to "the utopia" can stuff it. I love TNG, but the discovery of corrupt officials in the Federation government was a common plot hook in the series.
