Re: DSC S3: That Hope Is You, Part 2

Star Trek used to fill me with hope and aspiration. Watching earlier Star Trek shows still induces these thoughts and feelings, but they somehow feel tarnished by the hot mess that is Star Trek Discovery. I kept hoping that the show would improve and that perhaps the intention of the management was to get younger viewers onboard with meaningless action and woke messaging but then return to more traditional Trek over time; the signs were certainly there at the start of the season, but it ended up following the same illogical trajectory as season one and two.

I just don't understand this. Why do the writers seem intent on alienating their core fans?

I refuse to watch what is essentially 'Star Trek: Burnham'. What is the obsession and messaging with her character - that it's okay to be emotional, self-centered, rebellious and rash? That was never the message of Star Trek.

Re: TNG S5: Time's Arrow, Part I

My one memory of seeing this as a child for the first time in 1993 (I think) was not the plot or wether Data would survive....but HOW IS PICARD IN COMMAND OF THE ENTERPRISE?? He’s just spent “40 years” living as someone else...and he’s back as if the last episode hadn’t happened. If I was thinking this, perhaps the plot wasn’t very good?

Re: VOY S6: Child's Play

I'm sure someone would have commented on this eventually, but it pains me to watch this episode knowing that an interesting, and unique, character such as Icheb with a strong backstory has his eyeball ripped out and is mercy killed by Seven of Nine in Star Trek Picard just for some cheap views. It's a shame.

Re: DSC S1: The Wolf Inside

Thanks for the review Jammer.

I for one am thoroughly enjoying the show. The characterisation and cinematography is compelling, but it is tempered by a few illogical plot elements (in particular, the L'Rell and Voq infiltration plan; it makes no sense).

Re: TNG S6: Suspicions

Just one point I'd like to make regarding the Ferengi that I recall is that they didn't develop spaceflight. They bought it. Can't remember off who but it was mentioned in an episode of DS9.
