Re: DSC S2: Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2

This episode - probably discovery’s best IMO.

- it frees the series from the shackles of the prequel, and there are so many new avenues with which to redeem some of its worse features.
(But for the love of god, can these producers just ditch the alpha quadrant now, I can’t think of anything worse than a section 31 spinoff. It’s been resolved now, let’s leave it alone)

- the best visuals I have ever seen in any Star Trek series, period. (Side note; felt seriously like a BSG space battle!)

- cracked writing, “problutions” - nice term Jammer - and the other plot holes that dog this series, but you know what? Their sheer confidence in their story itself makes me go along with it on its own terms. I think I’m ready to like this series.

-I’m gonna miss Anson Mount!

3.5/4 for this one. Damn good episode, nearly a 4/4 if it weren’t for - ah, what the hell. Y’all know the writing of this series is more SW:TLJ than BSG or DS9. But for what it is, it’s pretty damn good.

Re: ORV S2: Sanctuary

Alan Roi, how much does CBS pay you anyway? Good god, keep it in the STD comment sections at least.

Re: BSG S4: Daybreak, Part 2

As for BSG: man, what a great show from start to finish. It's a shame that when I recommend it to my friends they look at me like I'm speaking hybrid gibberish becuase of the geeky name. They're missing out on all the great TV.
I thought this finale was a great way to end it, too. I can see why some people don't like it. It did have its holes but I think that's an unavoidable part of the fearless writing of the BSG team in improvising.
Side points: I imagine Adama went back to the others after a while. I can't see why he would retreat to isolation forever (like Tyrol did, which is more plausible).
I hated the flashbacks in pt. 1 but boy did it pay off in part 2/3. It gave the most beautiful closure to all the characters arcs which was just astounding.
I liked the effects: the colony battle was probably the second best visual sequence in the whole show, i'd argue only topped by the nebula battle in "Believeth" at the start of the season.
I still see some holes in this episode: Kara disappearing, the constellations, Six suddenly going back to Baltar (Tigh?), Adama leaving, the colonial fleet spreading out and not staying together, etc.
But for all that I think that this episode was such a great finish. And the show does require for some suspension of belief which I think works in its favour, creating a sort of mystic closure.
And there were so many good things!! In particular, Roslin's death was one of the show's best moments.
BSG has been one of my favourite shows to watch and thanks Jammer for making it so much better

Re: BSG S4: Daybreak, Part 2

Jammer – I know you probably will never read this. Just wanted to say anyway, thanks for all the effort you've put into all your reviews.
I've loved the reviews on this show particularly DS9 and BSG (two of my favourite series ever) as well as other Trek which I've pretty much grown up on. In BSG I'd always look forward to reading these reviews afterwards and mulling over the episodes. It made watching BSG so much more enjoyable. I can't wait to see what you think of Discovery which I will start now.
You are a legend. I'm so glad I found this site

Re: DSC S1: Into the Forest I Go

Not much to comment on the final episode other than the cliffhanger has brought the most excitement for me since the initial episode.

I just want to share my experiences with streaming quality....

I primarily watch CBS All Access using a Roku streaming stick. I rarely have buffering issues, and I always get HD. I have subscribed to CBS all access for a while and haven't had the experiences Jammer has experienced.

Just for kicks, I have tried both the iPhone and Android version over my wireless, and it has performed decently.

I do have pretty fast internet, so my streaming experience is usually great for any app I try.

Re: DS9 S6: In the Pale Moonlight

Whenever people question what Gene Roddenberry would think of this episode and that direction the series takes, for some reason the only thing I can think of is Gene in the Star Trek movie days (specifically Trek 6) where he wanted the crew to travel in time to have arguments with Einstein, kill off Sulu, and ultimately have Spock personally kill JFK, firing the grassy knoll shot, to "preserve the timeline." I know he created the series and all, but I can't help to think that he was really just a detriment to the show when TNG was starting up, which only got better as he had less influence on it. But I guess nothing is sacred to me.

PS: This episode is one of my favorite Star Trek episodes, and this review is what made me go back to rewatch DS9. The BSG reviews on this site are also what made me start watching BSG.
