Re: VOY S4: Hope and Fear

If you ask me, in their fear that their own audience were sexist pigs, they ended being the only sexists in the game.

It's official, I have started to talk to myself! :D

You've been doing that your whole life - you live in an echo chamber, which is why you spout only nonsense that was vetted by CNN.

Re: DS9 S4: Paradise Lost

1. People were scared into it by MSM
2. Government appointed think tanks and other organizations which pushed for lockdowns. Ignored anyone who said it wasn't the correct action.
3. Government using it to control. ID cards are one of the things being introduced and it was probably the plan all along
4. I don't know a single person who's died of Covid - including my 90 year old gran and 88 year old granddad (the latter in a care home).
5. I know many people who got sick - including me.
6. I know more people getting sick from the vaccine - recently my friend from work who was out of work 2 weeks after taking his second jab. Btw they will never stop with this now - any time they want you locked down they can claim you need a 3rd jab 4th jab - and that there's a new deadlier strain.
7. No one knows the long term effects of the vaccine. Even the short term affects have caused illness, serious illness, and death. The UK gov has stated that no company making a vaccine will be liable for any damages - so that should tell you how foolish you have to be to take it

8. And finally - the people going along with this from the public are easily cajoled sheep, who would sacrifice their freedom for the illusion of safety,

As usual, another snob who says the referendum wasn't legally binding - or that people were too stupid to know what they were voting for. The truth is people arguing against the referendum, or making these claims, are bigots.

Re: VOY S4: Concerning Flight

"Fire at will."

"I have the will, but not the means, Captain."

hahahahaha

It's a fun episode - but it's not doing anything clever. The biggest issue I have with making holograms indistinguishable to sentient beings and, further, explaining that they can "expand their program" is that you are effectively saying that all holograms would be protected and have rights under the Federation - as they are life forms. They would all pass a sentience test. They're possibly even a race (Voyager stupidly actually made this the case via "Photonics"). It seemed to be as early as The Next Generation that the lines were being blurred WAY too much in this regard. Moriarty was meant to be a total one off - but now it's like a few chosen commands to the computer - some tinkering to the "matrix" - and you have a new self-aware lifeform being born. Kind of takes away from Data being unique too, doesn't it? Dr Soong should just have visited a holodeck instead of all that programming slave labour shit.

If you want an army of Borg hunters - just replicate 1000000 military holograms and replicate 10000 ships. It destroys internal logic and realism long term. But, then, di I ever expect the majority of Trek writers to think this deeply? Of course not.

How about forgetting about new shows? Most people here, from what I gather, haven't even watched fucking Babylon 5. Jammer hasn't. As a sci-fi fan, that's a crime.

---

I get the feeling Jammer has some sort of ridiculous hatred for it tbh... to watch this poo and not B5....

Garbage. This is what happens when you put up with crap writing. You get a series like this one.

Re: TNG S7: Firstborn

Why doesn't Worf or anyone else in this episode apparently notice that supposed non-relative (gin'tak) K'mtar has identical cranial ridges to Worf, Kurn and Alexander?

Because no one is looking for that. You don't assume "hey, he's a time traveller". I didn't notice on first viewing either.

Re: ENT S1: Dear Doctor

Daya - you are wrong. It's not an opinion.

The theory of evolution won't just change one day. That's not what the word theory implies. You are simply not clued up with the subject or the nature of a scientific theory of that nature. Theory refers only to the point that we don't know everything about it - not that it's some guesswork. The core details will be as true 10000 years from now as they are today.

God that entire comment was absolutely shite. That's what happens when you're ill. Let's try again. Please delete the two above.

Good episode. very good.

I'd have liked one more scene with the moon, though - at the very end. Chakotay is summoned to the Bridge and is horrified to see that the moon is on the viewscreen. Lettering appears to say "To be continued..." and then disappears with the bridge crew laughing at him (and us indirectly) because it's just a prank.

I think that could have proven very amusing and disorientating at the same time.

Re: TNG S1: Angel One

(Then again, I'm not sure any work of fiction could successfully dent DLPB's misplaced faith in his grasp of facts and logic.)

Not sure what point you're trying to make - but if it's that I find no work of fiction to be well written, then you should have used basic logic to reason why that can't be the case. You can't know something has shit writing until you know something with great writing (Babylon 5, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones S1-4 - for example).

Re: VOY S5: Timeless

Jammer said: "However, one problem I have with "Timeless" is the way this moral theme affects Chakotay. Specifically, just what motivates him to help Harry change 15 years of history."

Perhaps knowing well over 100 of his friends are dead... not really brain surgery, is it? Plus he's used to bending rules as former Marquis. Very good episode.

Re: VOY S4: Day of Honor

I generally like this episode. Nothing special. Possibly Final Fantasy VIII used it with Rinoa and Squall>

Any case, I thought I'd note a funny error..

"Computer!?"
"Com systems must be down."
30 seconds later

"The transporters are back online. Energize."
[com system suddenly working, I see]

haha.
