Re: TOS S3: Elaan of Troyius

You guys are nuts, this episode was one my favorites from TNG. Espionage, intrigue, and a love story that doesn't feel forced. I'd say that Elaan was generally one of the few women that Kirk genuinely felt love for, with of course the help of her tears.

I was thinking about it and the tears make sense on a planet like Elas. People there are hard and war like, with tears being a rarity. I'd imagine that women on Elas use their tears as a way of choosing a mate, the mate being someone they trust enough to cry around.

When said I love you on the turbolift, it felt genuine. And Kirk does everything in his power to stay himself despite his emotions. Powerful stuff.

Re: TNG S1: Encounter at Farpoint

Not going to lie, this episode BORED me. I actually skipped the whole episode when they started the slow as molasses seperation sequence. I liked Q of course, but the episode just went downhill fast after he let the crew go. Is this an episode about Q or about Space Jellyfish? Entirely too unfocused, thank god things picked up later on or else I would've thought this show would be cancelled.

Re: DS9 S1: Battle Lines

Not going to lie, I almost gave up on DS9 while watching this episode. Keep in mind I came off of TNG, and Voyager, so I was a little Star Treked out. This episode though I found slow, boring, and dull. Thankfully DS9 gets MUCH better later on around the 3rd season, but man did this episode suck.

Re: DS9 S7: Field of Fire

Was on the fence on this episode up until they both looked at each other through the x-ray sights. I would've loved to see an Oh Shit expression on the vulcan's face as he saw that Ezri was looking at him with the exact same gun. Can you imagine looking through a sniper rifle to see someone else looking at you as well?

Re: DS9 S7: The Siege of AR-558

Anyone notice how brainwashed Nog is? This kid eats, breathes, and shits Starfleet. He's the kind of guy who'd think a fun night of relaxing involves going over the latest Starfleet regulations. As Vic Fontaine would put it, he's a square. I was literally whooping for joy when he got shot. Take that you little bastard!!

Seriously though, his uncle comes up on the bridge to see him and what does he do? Blow him off and then apologize to the captain for his uncle. I'd be ashamed of a family member for treating me like that, even if you were on duty.

Nog doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the bridge and frankly, he doesn't deserve to be on the show.

Nog: If they mess with Vic, they'll have to answer to me.

Oh geez, we better watch out guys, Nog might be mad at us!

Real tough guy, fighting against a hologram. Dear Nog. Die.

Re: DS9 S7: Chrysalis

I could not be any less interested in a episode, and I spent 90% of it on my phone. Really hope this isn't the last Julian Bashir episode because the guy deserves more than this.

Who decided the genetic crazies needed a new episode? They weren't all that interesting last time and they aren't now.

Also, did anyone notice the kind of homosexual undertones with O'Brien and Bashir in this episode. Miles sounded alot like a jealous house wife.

Re: DS9 S7: Take Me Out to the Holosuite

So...Nog is an ensign right? I guess he works in Engineering right? So what in the hell is he doing there during the senior staff meeting? Seriously, Chief O'Brien is there so you don't need any more engineering officers. So why in the hell is he so hamfisted into this show!? I'm serious about him being the DS9 Wesley Crusher, the guy literally does eveything! And who makes the one score in the game? Nog of course.

While I found this episode fun, and I do love baseball, this episode was also grade-A stupid.

Re: DS9 S7: Afterimage

"If it wasn't Worf it'd been you." Screw you writers, Jazdia had three years/seasons to do something about Bashir and all of sudden you say she had actually liked Julian but Worf came into the picture? I call bullshit.

Re: DS9 S7: Shadows and Symbols

One of the best episdoes of the series. The part where Benny rights "Sisko opens the box." was extremly climatic and excellentently played out. The new Dax I feel works out well, she's played as fresh-faced and new to the crew, and the actress does this well.

I agree with all of you guys in regards to the crew joining Worf on his mission. It was a way to get the whole cast to "do" something but I felt it was too ham-fisted.

The Romulan blockade with Kira was very well done, although anti-climatic with the wormhole opening up and the whole plotline kinda peters out.

Overall I felt that this episode is very good and what they writers are doing with the prophets is genius! They could've left them as wormhole aliens and tried writing them off as that but they do everything they can to show the Prophets as more than just aliens, potentially even "gods" as the Bajorans believe.

Star Trek predicted Tablets years before they existed. Now we just need replicators and I'll officially call this the future.

Re: DS9 S6: Honor Among Thieves

Paul, I was talking about the comments section (wanker) and how people are asking why O'brien is the one who has to do the undercover mission. He does the mission because, quite simply, he needs something to do! He's the average joe of the series and whenever an episode doesn't feature him as the main focus he's usually playing darts, fixing things, or fighting with his wife (I'm sure I'm not the only person who notices that they argue everytime we seem them.

Personally I love O'Brien episodes, although they do usually involve something bad happening to him.

Re: DS9 S6: Tears of the Prophets

So let me get this straight. Jazdia Dax, a Trill officer with the rank of Lieutenant Commander is told to stay at the station during a very important and critical mission in the Dominion War. But NOG who is an ENSIGN is right up there on the bridge, mixing it up with the Captain and piloting one of the most powerful ships in Starfleet!? Are you kidding me!? I'm not joking people this little guy is worse than Wesley Crusher.

At least Wesley had a lot of growing up to do and finding out who is he, Nog just goes from Ferengi to blindly devoted Starfleet officer who get's all the best missions! I honestly feel sorry for any other ensign or cadet put up against this guy! It's like "Oh, who's going on the away mission?" "Ensign Nog and Ensign Red Shirt!"

Red Shirt: "Crap."

I know Terry Farrell was leaving the show and her contract was up. But Nog should've been left behind, and Nog was the one who should've died. This is not up for debate.

Re: DS9 S6: Valiant

Ah yes, Nog. DS9's version of Wesley Crusher. Does anyone else get irked by how much the producers focus on this little fucker? I swear anytime there is anything happening of great importance, there's Nog in the back yuking it up with the senior officers. Like seriously, wasn't he still a "cadet" just a few episodes ago? Anyone ever remeber the episode "Lower Decks" from TNG? That episode showed just how tough it can be to make rank and to even get the chance to interact with the senior staff.

Then comes Nog who's on the bridge in almost any Defiant related episode, right there in thick of the action and getting all kinds of bullets on his resume. I call grade A bullshit on that. Nog needs to go back to the academy where he belongs and work his way up the ranks just like everyone else.

Re: DS9 S6: Honor Among Thieves

Amazing episode. Loved almost every second of it, yeah it was weird that O'brien was selected but the guy has to do something besides arguing with his wife and fixing stuff. This is good sci-fi drama, and emotional dilemma and one that has a bittersweet ending.

O'brien does his duty and lives to see another day, but Bilby knowingly walks to his own death. Gripping stuff

Re: DS9 S5: Ferengi Love Songs

Ferengi episodes were always divise in Star Trek fandom. Super nerds hated them, casual watchers loved them. Now I like Star Trek as much as the next person, but I also love Ferengi episodes.

What Dax said about Ferengi also applies in real life. Once you accept that Ferengi episodes aren't really serious and never game changing you find that you can really enjoy for the light-hearted romp they are.

Re: DS9 S5: Doctor Bashir, I Presume

Jammer you're crazy. For five season we've seen almost NOTHING of Julian Bashir. Literally what do we know of about him? He's a doctor. Okay. 90% of his episodes revolve around some kind of medical theme and everytime he's always put his patients first. Does the guy have no life outside of being a doctor? Where's the character development? Where do we learn about him having to put himself out there and having to deal with something else besides treating peoples scrapes!?

Miles O'brien is the perfect example. Imagine every Miles episode involving him solving some sort of techinical problem with the station? Boring. But instead we get problems with his wife, we get him being in a faux prision, we get him defeating an evil wormhole alien. Miles does shit, Bashir is just a doctor who annoys people sometimes and has a hard time with the ladies.

Then we get this episode and we see Siddig use his acting chops. The scenes were great his parents as Bashir is filled with a dull rage at them. Bashir goes from an overly eager beaver to a sad panda as his "ultimate" secret is reavealed. And the ending scene where he reveals that he's been holding back his whole life just to make others feel better? I'm hoping that this plotline develops in further episodes. What really sucks though is I was spoiled earlier on while reading a book about Star Trek, so I wish that I hadn't know about this reveal before it was unveiled.

On a side note, the B plots almost always suck Jammer. Rom sucks, Leeta was never good, did you ever have any hope for these characters?

Re: DS9 S5: For the Uniform

I loved this episode but certain things got to me. The whole "Defiant is broken" thing just seemed to be an excuse to have Nog around. Nobody evens cares about him, get him off the show!

Eddington turned out be a great villian, loved his acting in this one. But the final solution Sisko uses....at the end of the episdoe I was yelling at the tv. "BEN you just poisoned an entire planet!?"

And that sick chuckle that Dax gives, like it's alright.

I like Sisko but the man is ruthless, he is not above extorting and violence to get what he needs done.

Re: DS9 S5: The Assignment

The whole episode I was putting myself in O'Brien's shoes and I could just imagine the seething rage this guy has for wraith. I would've like some more anger from Colm kind of like "I'm going to get/kill you." and the final payoff where he does "Told I'd find a way to kill you."

That would've been badass.

As for Rom being an idiot but figuring out what the wraith was doing. O'brien said it himself "I couldn't see the forest for the trees."

O'brien was looking at the details, Rom just figured it out by looking at the big picture.

Re: DS9 S3: Shakaar

I was under the impression that Bashir/O'brien had a deal going on where they would bet against themselves and take all the money that would've been Quarks. The way O'brien seemed annoyed and bemused about finding out about the bet made it seem all the more valid.

While they never showed that this happened I still like to believe that they made off with a substantial profit :)

Re: DS9 S3: Family Business

The breaking in was played for humour. This whole episode was hilarious, especially the scene where the FCA agent see's their mother wearing clothes and is shocked as if an IRS agent saw your mother naked.

Personally I love Ferengi episodes, the sheer ludicrousesness of seeing unrestrained capatilism taken to the extremes is always fun.

Jammer you are crazy, this episode was laugh out loud hilarious. A little humourous episode now and then breaks up the monotony and let's us know the show doesn't take itself too seriously.

I got to admit when I saw Lwaxana I groaned but this hour left me grinning from ear to ear. Just a side note though, does anyone find Kira's hair to be atrocious? I know it was the 90s and all and we all had crazy hair then but geez woman, get a stylist!

Re: VOY S7: Renaissance Man

I fucking loved this episode. Granted, the bad guys kind of suck...but the whole Doctor impersonating everyone was pretty cool. The scene where Tuvok uses VulKarate to stop him is awesome, epic wall climb...awesome...Tom/Doctor kiss...awesome in a hilarious way.

One thing I would like to point out though...the Doctor seems superior to a regular crew in everyway...so why not have a whole ship made up of Doctors?
