Re: DS9 S2: Paradise

I wonder what kind of justice Alixus will face. Presumably none of her colonists will be testifying against her. Just for what she did to O'Brien and Sisko, I guess?

Re: TNG S5: Time's Arrow, Part I

There is the minor issue that in "Q Who," Q implies that Guinan is an alias she is using, and a newish one at that. So it doesn't quite match that she's using the name "Guinan" here. I suppose you could rationalize that her prior encounter with Q was earlier than the 19th century.

Re: TNG S5: Time's Arrow, Part I

Guinan says, "Did my father send you here? Because if he did, you must go back and tell him I'm not done listening..." The implication is that she's on Earth on some kind of fact-finding mission (something like collecting oral histories, perhaps). It's definitely a bit contrived that she happens into Data (helped a little by the fact that Data seeks her out on his own accord, plus the fact that a predestination paradox is at work in these episodes), but being mysterious, ancient and having had a lot of odd experiences are kind of Guinan's thing. Her use her is 100% consistent with her characterization.

Re: DS9 S7: Take Me Out to the Holosuite

Incidentally, I find it amusing that people keep repeatedly describing baseball pejoratively as an "American game." It may be American in origin and closely wedded to American cultural mythology, but a glance at its popularity in Latin America and in some parts of East and Southeast Asia shows that you really mean that Europeans don't play it very much.

Re: DS9 S7: Take Me Out to the Holosuite

It seems conceivable that it's simply environmental. An all-Vulcan ship might crank up the heat and up the gravity a bit, make the environment more like Vulcan than Earth: a more natural fit for Vulcan physiology. Also interesting is the fact that per "Interface," most of the crew of the U.S.S. Hera were Vulcan, yet it has a human captain.

Re: Star Trek: Insurrection

Not the most pressing issue, but what is with the names in this film? Ba'ku? Son'a? Ru'afo? Anij? Sojef? They sound like names my 3-year-old might come up by throwing random syllables together. They are utterly unmemorable except insofar as they're memorably childish, like something from an 80s Saturday Morning Cartoon.
