Re: ORV S2: Blood of Patriots

"Other than inserting overt pop culture references, it's not clear where else The Orville writers are drawing inspiration from."

Ahem.

Re: ORV S2: Blood of Patriots

If explodiblood is yellow, why were Orrin's "daughter's" needle marks red?

Is the implication that the two of them knew about the ceasefire all along - otherwise what would have been the point of the her continuing to pretend to be his daughter after their rescue?

Re: TNG S5: A Matter of Time

What a disappointing and insulting reveal. Does there always have to be a villain, or can we just have some intriguing sci-fi? What is this, "Columbo"?!

Re: TNG S5: The Game

Yes, of course, Peter G: everything that a radical Leftist doesn't like hearing is summarily dismissed as narcissism.

Or racism. ...But definitely *some* ism.

Re: TNG S5: The Game

Several have commented on how it's difficult to enjoy this episode now, knowing how Ashley has morphed into an unhinged Socialist radical. I wonder if there was something in the water on the set, for I have witnessed----and in the case of Marina, it was my own one-to-one interactions with her on twitter---several of the cast members, including Patrick, Wil, Brent, and, famously, the always-irate bullfrog who, perhaps like no one else in the country, gives Ashley's deranged malignant narcissism a run for its money: Whoopi, have become outspoken Leftist lunatics.

Most actors are weirdos. That's obvious. The childhood rejection that drives them to want to spend the rest of their lives playing dress-up and pretending that they're someone---*anyone*!!---else is what leads them into the career in the first place. But the TNG cast takes the cake.

Re: TNG S5: The Game

"Actress" Ashley Judd constantly talking with her head and neck instead of her mouth. Creepy chocolate-centric "character development" of Troi. And our episode star: Wesley!! What's not to love about "The Game"?! Remember Law 17: When all else fails, watch a better episode.

Re: TNG S5: Time's Arrow, Part I

A disappointing season.

S5 presents us with a handful of great episodes (Darmok, Cause and Effect, The Inner Light, Time's Arrow) and good ones (Ensign Ro, A Matter of Time, The Next Phase) that actually serve a purpose, at times fascinate, and belong in TNG.

But the rest are uninteresting, ridiculous, cheesily soap-operatic, and/or just simply TNG-pointless----with plenty of bad scripts, bad acting (much of it by Sir Patrick, even), intelligence-insulting, contrivances, After-School Special sermonizing, and Shut-up Geordi!! cop-out technobabble.

Re: TNG S5: Hero Worship

One star. Who cares about this kid or his therapy? What does any of this have to do with TNG? Pointless episode, I have to say.

Re: VOY S2: Basics, Part I

3 stars. Finally a decent involving episode

This episode really highlighted how pitiful and underwhelming most of season two was. This first episode in quite a while that I actually took notice of and actually enjoyed with no hesitation.

All those earlier episodes that frustrated me by toying with the Kazon capturing the ship in retrospect was seemingly done to build up to actually going through with it here thankfully

I enjoyed the hour with its action and tension and the cliffhangers

Re: TNG S2: Elementary, Dear Data

Peremensoe: But Data has no emotions so he wouldn't / couldn't actually care. Just erase the files. That would make it fun for Geordi.

Re: TNG S2: Elementary, Dear Data

Instead of asking Mr. Computer to create a Holmes-LIKE mystery with an adversary capable of defeating Data, why not just (have Data?) wipe Data's memory clean of all knowledge of Holmes' undertakings? Then he and Geordi could've had their fun, and, afterward, it would've taken, what, thirty seconds for Data to re-capture all of the novels?

Re: DS9 S5: The Darkness and the Light

Doesn't work for me at all. Starting with the explosion. Kira just casually assaults and knocks out three security officers and has to be stopped by a placenta-rupture (or whatever) from venting a whole section, killing at least the baby, herself and three unconscious security officers.

Then she steals a runabout, deletes all traces of where she may be going to face her nemesis alone. This guy so far has managed to take out 6 people in such a meticulous, organized, fore-seeing fashion that those who are left of the Tal Shiar and the Obsidian Order would instantly dissolve their agencies out of feelings of inadequacy.
And Kira just beams down to his compound unprepared, with only a phaser - because that's a good idea.

If the writers wanted me to hate Kira with a fiery passion: well done!
We've had out share of stupidly acting cast members this season, but she takes the idiot cake!

Re: ENT S3: Damage

Agree with Marco P.

For me, this was a bare 3 stars, and nowhere neaR ITPM, which for me remains in the pantheon of greatest Trek episodes.

I think that part of it is that I actually don't think Bakula is a great actor, or at least I don't find him very sympathetic in this role. Only T'Pol and Phlox give me any joy, and Trip and Hoshi to a lesser degree.

The rest are deadweight (and is there ever an episode where the conn officer is more than a token?)
