Jammer's Reviews

Jammer's Notes

December 26, 1998: At last! Posted reviews of VOY's "Thirty Days" and "Counterpoint." A substantial TOS update and the Insurrection review are in the works. Look for them around New Year's.

December 20, 1998: Jammer graduates from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (B.A., English).

With some time now on my hands, delayed reviews will be written in the coming week.

December 14, 1998:

DELAYS — Well, what can I say? It's finals week. The last finals week of my college career. I've been busy, busy, busy with other things. As a result, reviews for the past week have been placed on the back burner. But I will write them as soon as I can. VOY's "Thirty Days" will get top priority (simply because I'd prefer not to fall two VOY episodes behind), followed by a significant catch-up on TOS season three capsules (many of which are already written but not yet posted), and finally the review of Star Trek: Insurrection.

At this point I'd like to think that most of these reviews will be done in the next week or so, but the Insurrection review in particular might get the most delayed (I plan to see the film a second time before writing it up). Factoring in pre-Christmas craziness might also cause some delays. As such, I'm not naming specific dates for being completely caught up; just be assured that I'm working on them. Thanks for your patience!

December 8, 1998: Posted review for VOY's "Nothing Human."

December 2, 1998: Posted review for VOY's "Infinite Regress." Also, counter surpasses 130,000 hits.

November 30, 1998: Posted review of DS9's "Covenant"—the last DS9 review I'll write as a college student.

November 25, 1998: Posted reviews for DS9's "The Siege of AR-558" and VOY's "Timeless."

November 21, 1998: Posted TOS capsule reviews second season's "Return to Tomorrow" through "Assignment: Earth"

November 17, 1998: Posted review for DS9's "Once More Unto the Breach."

November 16, 1998: Counter surpasses 120,000 hits.

November 14, 1998: Posted review for VOY's "Once Upon a Time."

November 11, 1998: Posted reviews for DS9's "Treachery, Faith, and the Great River" and VOY's "In the Flesh" and a second season TOS update covering "The Trouble With Tribbles" through "A Private Little War."

November 5, 1998: Posted reviews for DS9's "Chrysalis" and VOY's "Extreme Risk."

October 31, 1998: I promised a TOS update and here it is. I've posted TOS capsule reviews for second season's "Amok Time" through "Wolf in the Fold."

October 29, 1998: Finally—posted the review for VOY's excellent "Drone." I promise that a TOS update will follow ASAP.

October 24, 1998: At last, some catching-up success! DS9 reviews for "Afterimage" and "Take Me Out to the Holosuite" are now posted. A substantial TOS update will follow soon.

Unfortunately, this week it's Voyager that gets the delay. My local station pre-empted "Drone" with the World Series, which I fully expected, but they again decided not to make up the show, which, conversely, is lame. I will be receiving a tape of the show tomorrow, with a review to follow in the days after that.

October 20, 1998: Posted review for VOY's season premiere, "Night."

I have finally seen DS9's "Afterimage," so the review will be following in a few days, as soon as I can work it into my schedule. By this weekend, I should hopefully be back on my usual reviewing schedule.

October 19, 1998: The review for VOY's "Night" will be posted soon. However, the review for DS9's "Afterimage" will unfortunately be delayed awhile longer. My local station pre-empted DS9 last week with baseball playoffs (understandable), but for some reason they decided not to air the show at all (not understandable). Hopefully, I can get ahold of a copy of the episode in the next few days, and hopefully this won't push back my other reviews as a result.

October 13, 1998: 100,000 HITS since March 1, 1997! Many thanks to all for visiting and coming back on a regular basis!

Also, added TOS capsules for "Court Martial" through "Operation—Annihilate!"

October 10, 1998: Posted review for DS9's "Shadows and Symbols."

October 2, 1998: Posted review for DS9's season premiere, "Image in the Sand."

September 28, 1998: Added TOS capsules for "Shore Leave" through "Tomorrow Is Yesterday."

September 24, 1998: Added TOS capsules for "The Corbomite Maneuver" through "Balance of Terror."

September 17, 1998:

It would seem that my vacation from updating this Web site is officially very over.

As such, it looks like it's time to reveal some big news concerning a significant addition to this site. I have, after some consideration, decided to review in capsule format The Original Series as the episodes are rebroadcast in order on the Sci-Fi Channel. (The lesson of the week is "never say never.") For more information about how I will be doing this, please see the introduction to the new TOS episode guide.

Since I was making updates, I also have taken the opportunity to add the index pages for the upcoming seasons of DS9 and Voyager, and I have updated the site maps (including a slight change in their format) accordingly.

Lastly, as a symbolic gesture, I have changed all airdates on the season listing pages to a four-digit format. With the year 2000 less than 16 months away, it's becoming increasingly clear to me that there very well could be serious consequences to the Y2K computer problem if we don't all get our collective acts together and fix this problem as best possible before the very dead deadline approaches.

August 4, 1998: At last ... the Sixth Season Recap for DS9 has been posted!

July 31, 1998: Sixth-season recap update: I won't be making the "self-imposed July 31 deadline." But I won't be missing it by too far, either. I just need to find a few solid hours (a more difficult task than it seems) to finish up my commentary. To give myself some leeway, I'm now announcing that the recap will be posted no later than August 5, and hopefully earlier. I promise.

July 26, 1998: Sixth-season recap update: I'm happy to report progress. It's not done yet, but it's well under way. Will I make my self-imposed July 31 deadline? Maybe. We shall see shortly...

July 17, 1998: Okay, so where's the DS9 season six recap that I promised for "mid-July"? In two words, "not done." In two more words, "not started." I have been busier this summer than I ever could've imagined when this summer started. That means DELAYS. Hopefully the delay won't be too long; I'm still going to shoot for the end of July for the DS9 recap, so stay tuned.

July 5, 1998: For your information and amusement, I have added The Jammer FAQ to answer frequently asked questions about myself and this site.

March 30, 1998:

At 12:00 a.m. CST, Star Trek: Hypertext moves to its new location on Epsico.com. The URL is http://www.epsico.com/st-hypertext/ and the Web site's general e-mail address is st-hypertext@epsico.com. If you could update your links and spread the word, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

March 29, 1998: Counter surpasses 60,000 hits.

March 22-29, 1998:

In preparation for the big move on March 30, I've done a minor revamp of the entire site. I believe in the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," so most of the changes are barely noticeable. However, I've made an effort to update and clean up some of the little details in order to make the entire site consistent, particularly with the review page formats, hyperlinks, and copyright information. Every page has been changed in some minor way, even if it was simply to update the e-mail address.

March 8, 1998: Posted reviews for DS9's "Change of Heart" and VOY's "The Killing Game."

February 27, 1998: Posted reviews for DS9's "Honor Among Thieves" and VOY's "Retrospect."

February 25, 1998: Posted the review for VOY's standout offering, "Prey."

Also, my own arrogance has led me to make a banner for Star Trek: Hypertext. If you're interested in using it as a link (read: advertisement), you can find it on my Links page.

February 20, 1998: Posted review for DS9's "One Little Ship."

February 14, 1998: Posted review for VOY's "Hunters."

February 13, 1998: Posted review for DS9's "Far Beyond the Stars."

February 11, 1998: Star Trek: Hypertext gets its 50,000th hit since March of last year.

February 10, 1998: I've done some minor site restructuring. One directory and a number of files have been renamed.

February 7, 1998: The Review Mailer garners its 500th current subscriber.

Also posted review for DS9's "Who Mourns for Morn?"

January 23, 1998: Posted review for VOY's "Message in a Bottle."

January 17, 1998: Posted review for VOY's "Waking Moments."

January 12, 1998: I posted a review for the DS9 novel Wrath of the Prophets for all you readers out there. :)

Also, on my season listing pages, I've changed the links that refer to the press release/general info pages. Instead of Vidiot's site, they now go to Psi Phi's site. I've found Psi Phi's information much more comprehensive and interesting overall.

January 11, 1998: Review for DS9's powerhouse "Waltz" posted — the first on-time post in over a month!

January 7, 1998: Jammer celebrates his 22nd birthday by doing nothing with the Web site. :)

January 6, 1998: Posted review for DS9's "The Magnificent Ferengi."

Jammer's Reviews aka Star Trek: Hypertext went online in March 1995.
