Re: TNG S4: Night Terrors

Saw this again last night, I really like it. Yeah I know the Troi cloud scenes are silly however overall it's pretty memorable.

I'll agree with the others here about the creepy music- They outdid themselves here and it sets a great atmosphere.

Re: VOY S7: Author, Author

@Sean-

"Isn't there some kind of Federation legal mumbo jumbo about using real life images for characters on the holodeck? On the plus side, gave the actors more to do on this episode. "

I think we talked about this for the Barkley holodeck / Three Musketeers episode board before, and the consensus is that it's not illegal but it IS frowned upon lol.

@ Welchie!!!!!

Sure he could, he's the son of the station commander after all. And the Emissary's kid too. He could probably have half of Bajor if he wanted to :D

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

"Am more hyped for the DS9 documentary than for ST:D though. "

BY FAR

Oh, I can't wait for this! I guess it's coming out sometime next year and with some re-shot HD scenes or something since the Kickstarter went so well.

The only shitty part is no Avery Brooks. It's great it basically will have everyone else but that's like a TNG doc without Patrick Stewart. Does he just not like Trek anymore? I never see Avery on much of anything Trek (minus that weird Captains thing on the piano lol) and both times I went to a Trek convention he was going to be at he bailed (one in '96 and another in '14).

"I really don't understand this obssecion with the Klingons. "

Ask any Joe Q Public on the street and he's more likely to know what a Klingon is than say a Romulan or Ferengi. I don't mind Klingons personally however if they are aiming for broad appeal than that might not be a good thing either.

Re: DS9 S4: Paradise Lost

I'm still surprised by how many people hate Brooks' acting, I never had an issue with it then and still don't.

Is he Patrick Stewart caliber? No, but not many are. Dude is awesome and is only seconded by Picard as my favorite Trek captain.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd scene!

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

As big a Trek fan as I proclaim to be I honestly didn't know much about Garth until I read up on him last night.

Now THIS sounds like a hell of a story if done right. It would also explain why the focus would be on Number One and not on someone of Issac's caliber. It'd also explain why there are Klingons being shown now and yeah the Axanar thing.

"Jason Isaac playing the ships Captain."

I was VERY excited to read this, that guy is an awesome actor.
What a complete prick he was in The Patriot!!

Too bad the captain isn't the focus on the show :(

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Oh good, more delays!

I read one idea on Youtube where they hoped the series centered around a way to move the Discovery through different eras of time. It would support the initial rumors that the show might be an anthology too.

Re: VOY S7: Endgame

Ok, it just got over. I liked it better than I thought I would however:

The Chakotay / Seven scenes were kind of.. wrong somehow. It felt super forced. He has more chemistry with Janeway and she has way more with the Doctor. Blah.

I kind of didn't get the ending. How's exactly did Voyager end up inside the sphere? When Janeway said "it'll be in my report" I was looking forward to the answer as well!

Oh man they really needed to devote more time for when they got back. Whatta' gip!

Re: VOY S7: Endgame

I'm 3 minutes in and we're supposed to believe the eternal Ensign Kim is a friggin' captain now? At his rate, he'd make captain around age 240.

I haven't seen this since the first time it aired but that jumped right out haha..

Re: TNG S2: Manhunt

Tara, you seem like an intelligent person I just don't know why you're cherry picking Trek episodes to try to find things wrong in regards to how women are treated. Like that seems like that's ALL you do around here.

Don't you enjoy the shows at all? Sometimes everything's not meant to be a great battle of the sexes debate, you know?

Re: VOY S1: Time and Again

"While I'm at the away team. Why the heck is all senior officer go on rescue/away team? "

Oh that's been established since TOS of course, you always send the absolute most important people down on the most dangerous away missions at every opportunity!

At least TNG started to address this (a bit) by having Riker go instead of Picard, but still he's the second in command and pretty important.

Re: VOY S4: Mortal Coil

A great episode that can make both Chakotay's vision quests and Neelix work.
I really like when Trek explores different things like the Great Forest / Barge of the Dead / Stovol 'Kor / and yeah even the Divine Treasury.

And it goes to show that Ethan Phillips is actually a pretty good actor too!

"I'm prepared to attribute DS9's differentness (and greatness) to Behr alone as the coordinating force for the writing and production staff. "

Yeah no kidding! Behr is awesome. He's working on the DS9 documentary currently but wouldn't it be great to get him back to Trek for this somehow?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

"100% agree. VOY is my least favorite because I have a lot of frustration for what it didn't do, but it probably would appear more on my top 20 list than TOS. When it was great it was great. "Blink of an Eye" is probably one of the coolest sci-fi episodes ever done. "

I agree as well. VOY is right ahead of ENT on my bottom of the list but you had some really excellent stand alones. That one I saw sort of recently where the Doctor is re-activated after hundreds of years in the museum is so friggin' good. What a great idea for an episode. Even "Caretaker" would be make it on a top 40 of mine.

Of course I could easily fill a top 20 with all DS9 or TNG episodes so being subjective would be difficult.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

Any chance of them releasing it January 2018? :D

And I agree, enough with the teasers it's just embarrassing now. Will the next one start showing the stars' names on the dressing rooms? Maybe a Klingon sash zoomed in 400%?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

That teaser is cool, however half of it is a nostalgia trip with stuff they know we already like. We still have the flying dorito from what it looks like.

At this point, at least there's proof they have a set!

"We must please the Picard so he will grant us favors!"

Oh no way, those lines are gold! haha!

"BTW I don't enjoy reading people's religious debates and abortion debates on this site. "

Same here, but they're entitled to a spirited debate I suppose. Luckily it's been mostly confined to this episode thread.
