Re: TNG S4: Brothers

^^ How many people could even compromise Data like Soong did? ^^

Data has proven himself way too much and is an invaluable member of the crew- maybe it's greatest member overall. He has probably saved the Enterprise 20-30 times all by himself!

Re: TNG S4: The Best of Both Worlds, Part II

They didn't need to show the actual battle, it was way better just showing the aftermath IMO.

I also think this worked really well when they did it later on with Kor's last stand on DS9. Sometimes it's better to let your imagination fill in the blanks. It's why movies like the original Halloween work so well and even hold up today. The killer doesn't need to be shown in every scene, put a few scenes in there and let the audience think about it: Could he appear? Is he behind the curtain? Maybe he's someplace else this time??

Re: TNG S7: The Pegasus

"It was completely inappropriate for Picard to threaten Riker for following orders from higher-up. He may not like being in the dark, but for him to threaten dismissing Riker for respecting the chain-of-command was way out there and should get Picard in trouble."

I love this episode but this is an excellent point. Now when I rewatch this one I'll try to see if differently from the perspective that Pressman was right.

Re: TNG S5: Ethics

@Outrider65:

In another episode she gives an alien an autopsy even though both the family members and Picard told her not to. Even my small daughter picked up right away on that and wondered why she didn't get in serious trouble (at the least).

How Bev's not in some sorta' doctor jail is anyone's guess.

@Peter G:

Hahahaha! If anything this spam bot should've opted for another episode. Strange out of all the combinations of series and episodes it happened to land on this dreaded example. IDIC indeed!

Re: Star Trek Beyond

@RT:

I thought that the space station itself was really cool but not "Star Trek". If it were for another sci fi movie that might sit better with me. Again, it was great but not Trek.

Besides, the canon Trek space stations are pretty awesome as they are, no need to go about making stuff up for the hell of it I suppose :D

Re: DS9 S3: Second Skin

You guys are right on the money, I love the Cardassians they're my favorite non-human race on Trek*. Personally I think they might be the most human of the alien races. It doesn't hurt when you have Dukat and Garak either. They are damn heavyweight-caliber characters.

*If more Ferengi were like Quark they might get my vote too.

Just watch, after that superbowl they're going to change the OT rules again haha. "EACH side gets a possession until the Patriots lose!"

Re: DS9 S7: Take Me Out to the Holosuite

@Yanks

Baseball used to be my #1 favorite sport by far. I'd watch 150 of 162 games a season easy. However since about 2000 I really started getting into football and now that is my favorite. I totally agree with all the rule changes and I think it's eventually going to be detrimental to the sport. For starters a touchback should bring the ball out to the 20, and not the 25. I get they want to increase scoring (Hits on the QB rules doubly enforces this too).

Baseball is a thinking man's sport and people "in the know" are just as excited when somebody gets a sac fly as they are when they belt a HR. I love football but baseball is a true classic that shouldn't be so easily dismissed by Senior Gooz.

Re: TNG S7: Phantasms

@Outsider65:

They did bring Alexander back a couple times in DS9 and they did some pretty decent episodes with him IMO. To be honest though I liked the one in TNG where he came back from the future to try to get his younger self to want to be a warrior in order to save Worf later from being killed in a fight.

Re: VOY S7: Endgame

@ DLPB:

Really I think it's only the very end of the episode that pisses people off. It's so abrupt and even the VOY crew deserves a better send off.

Now that I think of it, starting with TNG the series' enders have all gotten worse and worse:

TNG: Awesome, with a hopeful feeling
DS9: Good, but I felt like crap knowing they basically stuck Sisko in infinite limbo
VOY: Entertaining, yes, but WTF ending over way too quickly
ENT: Craps on the crew totally, and even somehow makes The Pegasus a bit worse retroactively

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

That's because Julian was from a test tube!

But seriously, I did a quick google search yesterday to see which upcoming Star Trek conventions were coming near me this year. Not a one. In fact, aside from Las Vegas there doesn't really seem to be any Trek conventions anymore. Back in the mid 90s not only was there one near me it was at least every year. I haven't been to one since 2014 and it doesn't look too promising around the corner.

Has the golden age of Trek already come and is long gone? Say from the 3rd season of TNG throughout DS9's run? It'd be sad if that's the case but at least we can say we were there when it all happened.

Forgot to add-

My show would also not toss around swears and explicit crap "just because" either. Those ENT decon scenes are slightly embarrassing lol.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery

"There are probably millions of people who would jump at the chance to write a Star Trek show. "

Oh hell yeah, I would!

I'm no writer, just a huge fan. For starters it'd be set after DS9 / VOY, no doubt about it. The ship would not look like a rusty Dorito. There'd be no gay guys 'just because'. Everybody on the ship would be whatever they are for a reason, not just to fill some SJW quota crap.

If Michael Dorn wants to bit part in my cast you know what, the dude's going to get it because he's done so much for Trek already. (If the rumors are true) you don't insult this legend by offering him 1% of his Nemesis cut or whatever.

"Just how big IS this cast anyway? Aren't we up to, like, 20? "

I guess the same braintrust who thought another prequel was a good idea subscribes to the 'more is better' theory too :(

Re: TNG S6: Second Chances

It would've been so great if they somehow rescued Thomas Riker off Cardassia at the end of DS9. As it stands, he probably was killed like the 800 million other people on the planet by the Dominion.

Re: DS9 S4: The Way of the Warrior

Was sort of bored last night so threw this one on again.

As much as I like Worf, I'm one of those people who thought that DS9 didn't need him added as a regular cast member.

Re: DS9 S6: Tears of the Prophets

@TH:

"Or was this part of the ban on her and Worf ever having missions together? "

I choose to believe this is the reason. It actually makes a ton of sense and gives that other previous episode more weight.

Still yeah the whole "we want to have a baby!" and the Bashir / Quark stuff.. all that was just really out of place.

If someone ever invents a time machine for real they need to go back and convince Terry Farrell to stay on for a 7th season.

Re: VOY S4: Message in a Bottle

@ Dave

"We never saw more than one Defiant-Class vessel in any of those huge, thousand-ship battles on DS9, but here two of the three ships sent to intercept the Prometheus are Defiant Class vessels. "

The only thing I can think of is they had another Defiant class vessel on DS9 called the Valiant which was way way out in deep space on a training mission or something too. And since the area where this battle with the Prometheus took place was also at the edge of the Alpha quadrant it's feasible that other Defiant-class ships were in the vicinity.

Re: VOY S4: Hunters

The whole end scene where Janeway and Chakotay lock arms to go to the party- You can totally tell they were trying to build their relationship off for a big payoff at the end but ultimately pooped on it and hooked him up with Seven instead for whatever reason.

I mean I'm no Lifetime movie nut or anything, but wouldn't this have made perfect sense in the end? I mean Mark's out of the picture and all.. what a set up!

Re: VOY S4: Prey

Was up way too late watching VOY episodes last night, Message in a Bottle, Hunters, and this one. What a great episode! Also although they leave the "what was the right thing to do" answer up in the air it's pretty obvious that if they did it Janeway's way they all would've died.

I appreciated the cargo bay scene at the end a lot too. Imagine if somebody pulled that shit on Picard when given a direct order? They would've been confined to quarters MINIMUM. I'm actually surprised she still allowed Seven in stellar cartography to be honest.

Voyager always irks me because it CAN be a pretty friggin' awesome show, it just never lasts for very long. If nothing else it appears the series does indeed have more than "10 good episodes" like I've said time and again in the past :D
