Re: VOY S1: Caretaker

I wholeheartedly concur with an earlier poster who compared this to the Odyssey. It really is an apt comparison and I think Voyager's writers were at least trying to go for that to some extent.

As for the intra-ship tension Janeway lays out the one ship one crew mantra as well as explore, find shortcuts and stick to principles-the show followed that to the end.

A satisfying beginning pilot. 3.5 stars!

Loved it one of Voyager's best and I hear Picardo's favorite ep as well.

Re: VOY S5: Counterpoint

An anti-telepath society is a fascinating idea. Telepaths could exploit people, take advantage of others, and due all sorts of things that give them a leg up even the most benovelent and gentle ones might cause harm by influencing or revealing the thoughts of others.

This was a great episode.

Re: DS9 S7: It's Only a Paper Moon

Okay in the 24th century wouldn't the technology exist to deal with his leg injury and psychological distress?

People who dislike Voyager complain about technobabble but to tell you the truth VOY/TNG hell even ENT show a future where yes sciencing one's way out of a problem and the use of technology to solve and mitigate problems will be routine. It might not make for engaging drama but its true in the predictive sense.

Ad that's what sci-fi does best

One of the best Doctor shows on Voyager, poignant therapy at the end really really good.

Re: DS9 S5: Empok Nor

Psychotropic drug or not Garak still killed a Federation engineer/soldier. If I were his wife or relatives I would demand consequences. Maybe just maybe if circumstances were extenuating enough I could forgive but I'm not sure here.

Who can say there isn't some other drug or substance that can make Garak go crazy. The man is really too dangerous to be doing anything besides sweeping plasma conduits without armed supervision.

He's such an elite and uncanny operative I wouldn't trust him with my shoelaces.

Maybe on these assignments Sisko should have had him watched or I dunno put a tag on him.

Re: VOY S4: Living Witness

One of the best of Voyager.

As for the previous statement I've always interpreted it as that the Federation "ascended". Their exploring time and alternate dimensions and Organians now.

The concerns of a species on a world or two about historical correctness no longer matter

Re: DS9 S4: Accession

Curious the prophets say regarding Laan that they were more than willing to let him die.

I seriously get the impression their not moral by any appreciable standard.

What if they did support the D'jarras? Or ethnic cleansing? Retaliatory genocide against the Cardassians?

DS9 obviously wasn't willing to dare go that far.

Oh and the score was excellent, And I couldn't help but shudder with the call forward. Archer " It seems like we've only postponed the invasion until what? The 24th century"

Great call forward there.

Re: ENT S2: Regeneration

An excellent tie in to First Contact and the last use of the Borg in Trek TV.

I get the impression a lot of the commenters have some deep prejudice against Enterprise.

Phlox being Denobulan has some experience with nanotechnology and perhaps his physiology allowed him to sustain the nano-probes in himself.

I wonder if they did some quantum dating and allowed them to conclusively prove they were from the future.

Think of it like historical records if say some Indians had washed up on European shores or vice versa a few hundred years before Columbus would there be much if any historical reference regarding this?

The Borg encounter would be filed under Enterprise NX-01 alien species mention cybernetic hostile, origins unknown further information requires either Academic permission or a security clearance.

Same thing with the Ferengi incident.

Re: VOY S1: Prime Factors

I always liked this episode and felt that it was a good one. Reminds me of the Lotus eaters in the Odyssey.

The fact that Tuvok was willing to go behind Janeway's back and conspire with former Maquis and Carey is very intriguing. Certainly adds a layer of depth to Janeway-Tuvok's relationship. Janeway may trust and hold Tuvok in high regard but does he feel the same way?

The Sikarian chick was beautiful too.

Re: ENT S4: Kir'Shara

Greatly enjoyed this three parter sets up TOS and has a good balance of intrigue, exposition, action, and thoughtfulness.

If only Enterprise had carried this through from season 1. Then I think the show would have lasted the seven years.

Re: DS9 S6: Tears of the Prophets

The best part of the episode is Bashir and Quark languishing over the fact Jadzia and Worf's marriage will actually last.

To tell you the truth I could relate to that the "loser" watching the hot girl get away and hoping something would screw up the unpleasant set up.

I guess they were just unlucky should have been Worf in the temple.

Re: DS9 S6: Valiant

This is so unbelievable I can not believe it was rated so highly.

The young captain telling Jake not to participate was cringe worthy and downright nonsensical. Reporters talk to soldiers in war time as long as reporters in war time have existed. That's not like Jake acting like he can run engineering he's simply asking if somebody thinks of home. Seriously CNN and NatGeo would ask similar questions.

Secondly that captain remirez would seriously tell the cadets "to continue the mission" not "get your asses home asap". Is just unbelievable and stupid.

Re: DS9 S6: His Way

I can relate to Odo's restrained and disciplined conservatism especially in public.

Him backing away from holographic Kira is a little too cliche-I mean really I can't do this. Come on man she ain't real just practice.

Re: DS9 S6: His Way

This is a tried and true guy tries to get girl story. While timeless in itself shouldn't be more than a D-Plot in Star Trek.

The audience is supposed to pine for Odo and is longing. Okay that's soap opera and RL-guys pine for girls without knowing how to handle or approach the situation every living minute for every day.

Myself included

As cute as it is I don't watch sci fi for dating tips or that sort of sentiment.

DS9 couldn't help but bend over backwards to accommodate "mainstream" taste and interest.

Like this episode both the laughs and Janeway acting BadA. Tuvok's sarcasm and irony is great as well.

Also love Seven's greyish uniform with Starfleet Insignia.

Re: VOY S6: Dragon's Teeth

Liked this a lot. Should have been a two parter.

What's wrong with hostile aliens? That's like a foundation of science fiction.

I mean what really do people want? Soap opera? Please go to Mexico if you want that sort of TV. DS9 did enough of that anyway. We have to explore the characters feewings.

Re: VOY S7: Endgame

Awesome episode, only needed an epilogue.

The Borg were Voyager's biggest villains and and honestly to the people who say "they shoud have remained in TNG!" What fools are you!

The Borg were stated in Q-Who as being native to the Delta Quadrant.

Also Voyager didn't destroy the Borg just gave them a bloody nose and broken leg.

Honestly what is this anti-Voyager prejudice gripping the commenters here?
